Budi, a baby orangutan, is a true survivor.

Eight years ago, this little creature was rescued in a terribly pitiable state by the International Animal Rescue team. Malnourished, bloated, and unable to move, Budi’s prospects looked grim.

But with immediate medical attention and a tailored nutritional plan, his journey to recovery began.

His transformation from a sickly infant into a strong and independent orangutan is nothing less than astonishing.

Budi’s early days of rehabilitation were spent in the clinic’s quarantine area, receiving intensive care.

The team dedicated their time and efforts to building up his strength, nurturing him back to health.

It was a gradual process, but Budi showed positive signs of improvement. As he began to gain strength, he could even grasp his caregiver’s fingers, a small yet encouraging milestone.

After about four months of this painstaking care, it was time for Budi to attend baby school, an essential phase for rehabilitating rescued orangutans.

Here, Budi first mingled with other young orangutans and learned to climb again.

As he started to eat proper food, he continued to develop physically and grow stronger.

Budi’s journey continued with his promotion to Forest School, where he truly began to blossom. The emphasis was on building confidence and instilling in them the behaviors of wild orangutans.

Budi spent less time on the ground and more in the trees, learning to forage for food and build nests.

Slowly, he became less dependent on his human caregivers, showing a growing self-sufficiency.

The progress Budi made was extraordinary.

From his initial heavy reliance on humans, Budi reached a level of independence much earlier than some other orangutans.

It was heartwarming to see him contentedly spend his nights out in the forest, a sign he was heading in the right direction to be released back into the wild.

The dedicated team at International Animal Rescue kept a watchful eye on Budi’s continued development.

They had to ensure he would be able to survive once released.

After many years, Budi finally reached the stage where he was ready to be set free.

They had watched him grow from a fragile, sickly baby into a robust and independent orangutan.

They had put so much time and effort into his rehabilitation, and now it was time to bid him farewell.
