The non-profit organization has a vessel equipped with remotely-operated vehicles that allows them to study and share their explorations with the public.
This octopus captured the explorers’ attention.
During one of their live explorations, the camera captured a flatfish, jellyfish, and octopus in one frame.
The sight was amazing, like a still photo showing the life underneath the ocean.
However, the octopus was so stunning that they had to zoom in on the creature before leaving.
Flapjack octopuses are unbelievably adorable.
In fact, they’re one of the cutest creatures in the ocean.
This octopus is found deep in the ocean, where it feeds on various creatures that can also be found there.
They have small compact bodies and ear-like fins.
The cute creature was also used in various images that can be seen in video games and films.
He looks like a lumpy pancake.
This deep-sea octopus looks like a lumpy pancake when resting.
When lying flat on the sea floor, their body resembles soft gelatin.
Their body is like a fluid jelly that contracts while floating on water.
They have umbrella-like bodies which balloon out when they float.
They are also known as “Dumbo.”
The term “Dumbo” is generally used for umbrella octopuses that thrive in deepsea.
Their large fins, which are ear-like appendages on their mantle, qualify them for their name, similar to the Disney character.
Aside from their fins, their eyes are also evident on top of their head, which is bulging.
The octopus waves at the camera.
It can be seen that the yellow-colored creature is moving its fins when focused during the exploration.
Dumbo was very social initially, and it looks like it wants the attention it gets from the researchers.
Ain’t he too cute and bright to be left unnoticed by his audience’s eyes?
The bright light blinded it.
Exposed to the light from the remotely operated vehicle, the octopus covered its eyes.
It first blinked a few times to adjust to the blinding light shining on him.
Then, it continued to blink its eyes to adjust since the creature naturally live in the deep and dark part of the ocean.
He was shy about the attention.
Dumbo eventually wants to cover itself from being viewed by the researchers.
He used his tentacles to cover his body and to prevent his audience to further see his eyes.
The octopus was too conscious of the camera that focused on the movements that he wanted to hide from his audience.
The team of explorers decided to leave the creature alone so it can rest peacefully in its natural habitat.
