This dog might be bigger than some humans, but in his heart, he is still just a little lapdog puppy.

Newfoundland’s are known for being gigantic dogs, but even big dogs want cuddles too. Luckily for him, he has an owner that does not mind that her dog needs all the love. She is happily letting him be a lapdog, or in this case a full body dog.

Newfoundlands were originally, and still are for some, a working dog. Their size allowed them to be great helpers in certain fields. Their work included getting wood from nearby forests and pulling in fishing nets.

Before anyone knew it, they also became family dogs because of their great temperament.

One of the most famous Newfoundland’s is not even a real dog. Nana from the play and movie, Peter Pan, was a Newfoundland. Nana was the family dog that was the nanny of the Darling children. While actually having a Newfoundland be a nanny is unrealistic in real life, it was created by Newfoundland’s love of children.

Dogtime states that, “The Newfoundland really is a sweet dog who loves children. He’s naturally gentle and friendly with them, as well as protective. Fans of this breed say the Newfoundland really is a natural-born babysitter.”

Newfoundland’s are lovable giants.

Male Newfoundlands can weigh up to 150 pounds and females can weigh up to 120 pounds. Those are some big dogs! The personality trait that is most common in Newfoundlands is their gentle nature. They have sweet temperaments that make them perfect for being a family dog.

At first in the video, the Newfie is all good with sitting right next to his mother’s lap and receiving all the pets and affection. It is always great to be loved like this Newfie is loved. Luckily for him, his mother has no problem with him getting on her lap, or her entire body. She is the one that pats her leg to let him know coming up on her lap is okay.

That Newfie is one lucky dog to have such a great owner.

Once he climbs up on his owner, it is cuteness overload. At first, his legs are hanging at the bottom of the chair because he could not fully pull himself up onto her lap. Once she realizes his feet are hanging, she pulls him right up onto her lap; talk about being strong.

This is exactly what he wanted, and he is way more comfortable.

Once he is on her lap it is game over, he is staying put as long as he can. He lays on her like he does it all the time. He is calm as she rubs and pets him continuously. This is definitely his happy place. If he gets any bigger though he might not be able to do this anymore. So, soak it all in buddy.

He is so big; his front paws wrap around her shoulders as if he was giving her a hug.
