A lot of people go to work or school each day, leaving pets behind until returning. Most come back to find things just as they left them. But others come home to discover their pet wasn’t on its best behavior. Some of the things they find are funny while others are horrifying.
As these 75 photos show, some people have really naughty animals although they still love them just the same.
The look of innocence…sort of. Even before going inside the house to do an inspection, this owner could tell these two were up to no good. But with adorable faces like these, there’s no way they could mad…unless they destroyed their new sofa.
You know, this dog might’ve gotten by with his bad deed if for just one small oversight. Licking his lips with the food trash lying around blows his cover wide open.
This cute kitty found some sausages and no matter how nice the owner pled to get them back, she wasn’t going to hand over her stash. And by the look in her eyes, she means business.
4. A beautiful day at the lake…
…until the dog almost drowned his young human. While this incident happened away from home, it’s just too funny not to include. It seems as though this pup isn’t too fond of water.
Upon returning home, this family repeatedly found their small dog damp. While at the house one day, the owner stepped inside for no more than five minutes. This is what they discovered.
It was bad enough this little guy wasn’t watching where he was going, only to run over his big furry sister. But then his owner made him wear this ridiculous sign and posted it on social media.
7. They were just having a little bit of fun
What’s so bad about an innocent pillow fight between two dogs? Well, a lot. We’re not sure if these pup’s owners sat down and cried, yelled, or rolled on the floor in laughter. We’re hoping it was the latter.
It seems this dog owner has a kleptomaniac in the house…and they just got busted in the act. But the best part…just look at those eyes. He’s trying to quickly come up with a reason why his paw is in the purse.
After catching their dog doing this, they had to make a last-minute change to the menu for Thanksgiving Day dinner. Or at least we hope they did. Otherwise, that’d be pretty gross to eat.
10. We’re just playing…really
At first, this owner thought their cats were in a serious fight. But then one looks up to ensure them it’s just a game. What do you want to bet as soon as their human walked out of the room, the fight…we mean playtime…continued?
These cats have some major explaining to do. In all fairness, they were probably just testing out the new blinds their owner had just hung. They wanted to make sure they were strong and sturdy. The results…they’re not
12. The dog ate my homework
That’s the oldest and lamest excuse ever for not turning in schoolwork on time. But as it so happens, this dog did just that. Maybe after seeing this photo, the teacher gave the student a second chance.
Someone’s not too happy to learn that his family was planning a vacation without him. If they thought for a second he was going to go to a boarder, they’d better think again. He’s standing his ground on the subject.
14. Coming to this pup’s defense
Since firefighters are often gone from the firehouse for lengthy periods, we’re going to stand up for this adorable girl. She tried her hardest to wait but when nature calls, well, you know.
Either this owner was extremely mad or they felt honored to have a dog that missed them this much. But a little word of advice, the next time you leave home, find a better place to keep this fellow.
16. A sense of accomplishment
After destroying a bean bag chair, this pup seems quite pleased with the results. After a lot of hard work, she’s relaxed in her bed, ready to show her owner what she did all day. We’re sure they’re impressed.
17. Smile and they won’t notice
With an adorable face like that, we get the feeling this beautiful girl gets by with a lot of things. Seriously, with that smile and those squinted eyes, how could anyone get mad at her?
The bath this pup got inside the house wasn’t good enough. So, he decided to take one outside to show his owner the proper way of doing it. There, that’s much better.
19. Hugging my best friend
When this individual came home, they caught their dog giving the cat a hug. Or at least that’s what she wanted them to believe. But with a guilty expression like that, you have to wonder.
20. Nothing going on here
At first glance, nothing seems out of the ordinary. But just a few minutes later when this pup’s owner turned away, he was digging a huge hole in the backyard. No problem, he’ll just lay on top of it and they’ll never know.
After finding the cat like this, her owner understands why she’s always picking little white hairs off her clothes. On another topic, this can’t be comfortable. Can it?
It’s common for dogs to destroy various things in a home. You know, toilet paper, furniture, shoes. But what did all of these sunglasses every do to this pup? Let’s hope there wasn’t a pair of Oakley’s in the mix.
Hey, this dog was cold so he got resourceful. Perhaps his owners need to invest in an actual dog bed or set the thermostat to a higher temperature when they’re gone. Just saying.
Just a little piece of advice. If you have a large dog or even a small one that’s super smart, don’t leave meat on the counter to thaw while you’re gone. If you do, you might as well plan to order take out.
This bunny might be super cute but he knows very well to stay off the furniture. So, when his owner found him on the sofa, he gave them this look. “Yeah, yeah, I know. I’ve heard it before but when you’re not home, it’s my castle.”
26. It’s not what she wanted
This dog’s owner was nice enough to buy their baby a new bed. After all, she’s getting up in age and they wanted her to be comfortable. While it was a kind gesture, we get the feeling she had her eye on something different.
Just imagine walking into your kitchen to see this? First, that’s one smart kitty. Second, her owners might want to make sure she has a bowl of water before they leave the house. If not, she’ll keep resorting to this.
After watching her owner apply lipstick for years, this sweet girl thought perhaps it would enhance her looks, too. We have to admit, that’s a nice color choice.
This dog must know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. At least he chose cereal that’s high in fiber and loaded with nutrients. Sorry, but those kibbles and bits just weren’t cutting it.
As an experienced kneader, this kitty wanted to surprise his owner with a delicious cake. But no, she had to come home early and ruin everything. Thanks a lot Mom.
31. That was a close call
According to this pup, he heard a strange noise coming from the trash can and went to inspect. That’s when he spotted a scary monster and scared it away. That’s his story and he’s sticking to it.
After returning home, this is what her pet’s looked like. From what it appears, this person knows something’s broken but just hasn’t found it yet. These two need to come up with better facial expressions the next time they’re naughty.
While some horses are extremely smart, we don’t think any have the intelligence level to pull this off. This time, the blame goes to a human…but the owner of this horse just doesn’t know who…yet.
If we were this dog, we’d being doing the same thing. As a matter of fact, we might go as far as to contact an attorney. With a mess like this, there’s a good chance this pup will need all the support he can get.
Not in a million years did this dog’s owner think her pet was living a double life. But come to find out, she is. On a side note, she’s pretty good at that pole dancing thing.
These two cats tried really hard to convince their human they were practicing wrestling moves. Somehow, we’re not buying it and we don’t think their owner did either. We think it’s time this human leaves the television on a different station.
Either this dog was hungry and decided to help himself to whatever was in the fridge or he got hot and was merely trying to cool down. Regardless, this was probably a shocking sight to the pup’s owner.
38. Hate it when that happens
This kitty was in the need for some love…yep…that kind. Without another cat in the house, he had to make do with what he could find. Unfortunately, his owner walked in at the most inopportune time. So embarrassing.
We have no idea if this kitty wanted frozen fish or ice cream out of the freezer. But now, her owner understands why all the freezer food was getting soft. We’d say it’s time for some kind of door lock.
From the looks of it, this pup learned how to get chips out of the kitchen cabinet. But what she hasn’t learned is how to hide the evidence before her humans arrive home. Poor thing.
This sweet baby thought she lived in a bed and breakfast inn. Come to find out, she was wrong. Seeing this had to put a smile on the owner’s face. It’s simply too cute.
42. So, that’s where they go
People always wonder where socks go during the laundry process. Well, here’s proof that it’s not the washing machine or dryer eating them. Nope…it’s the dog hiding them.
It only took a minute for this person to understand why the bed was always messy after coming home from work. They only left the room momentarily and came back to find this. They sure look comfortable.
This cat didn’t even wait for his owners to leave before trying this. Hey, the smell of freshly baked muffins proved to be too much to resist. We’re with you, kitty.
Here’s another example of how a pet owner couldn’t leave for a minute before their dog got into mischief. Was it a bunny, cat, dog, or perhaps a rebellious streak that made him feel the need to run into the muddy pond? We’ll never know.
It didn’t take any time for this adorable kitten to figure out how to pull the toilet paper off the roll. She might be fast at learning but her technique is still a little off. She just needs a little more practice.
This beautiful kitty’s human hadn’t left the house yet. There he was, minding his business chewing on a phone charger cord. But the minute his owner walked in, he dropped it and pretended to have no clue why they were so upset.
This individual had been using a lot more keyboard cleaning spray lately and didn’t quite know now. But after coming home and finding this, it all made perfect sense.
Here’s a prime example why people with cats a) don’t put up Christmas trees, b) place them inside a dog kennel, or c) hang them from the ceiling. For this kitty’s sake, it was probably a good thing his owner came home when they did.
If you have cats, you might wonder what they do all day. You know, how do they play, do they ever fight, and where’s their favorite place to sleep. This owner got at least one of those questions answered.
Hey, if this cat’s owner is going to leave cake sitting out, they should expect something like this. After all, it is her favorite flavor, making it irresistible
52. Speaking of irresistible
The same rule applies when it comes to cinnamon rolls. Gone from the room for a minute, this is what the owner walked in on…her sweet kitty wanting to sample the goods.
While a lot of animals are naughty when their humans are away, this one seems content being good. Then again, we don’t know if she stole this stuffed toy from the baby’s room and knew better.
54. “See, I’m being good”
This pup knows he’s not supposed to be on the bed. So, when his owner walked into the bedroom, he quickly yet subtly rolled onto the floor, acting as if nothing was wrong. Give this dog an award…that’s good acting.
This individual explained that whenever they come home only to discover their pup’s been up to no good, his ears magically disappear. Well, this must’ve been one of those days.
This adorable kitty has refined taste. She’d much rather snack on onions than her cat food. That’s not something any owner would expect to discover.
This dog owner returned home to find her large dog was sleeping on packing peanuts. Luckily, he was thoughtful enough to keep them inside the plastic bag. What a considerate boy.
This person had a habit of leaving water bottles out when going to work. But he’d come home to find the caps missing. Now, he knows what his pet does while he’s gone for the sake of entertainment.
At first, this dog’s owner thought some creep was coming into her house and stealing her underwear. But then one day, she found this. They’re cute pup but definitely the wrong size and color
60. His favorite napping place
Let’s just be thankful this person discovered their kitty’s favorite place to nap before turning it on. That could’ve turned into a nightmare.
“If I close my eyes so I can’t see my human, then my human can’t see me, right?” Sorry, pup. That’s not the way it works. You might as well just fess up to eating the bed.
If dogs could talk, we’re pretty sure he’d be saying something like this. “Mom, thank goodness you’re finally home. I was just minding my business when that thing exploded. I could’ve been hurt.” Yeah, right.
In this case, a woman witnessed her neighbor’s dog jump onto the kitchen table. But he then began eating the chia pet that belonged to the owner’s daughter.
For some time, the sink stopper kept disappearing. The individual couldn’t figure out where it was going and even more importantly, who was taking it. That’s until she walked in on these two.
65. Another comfy resting spot
It’s a good thing this drum has a hole for this kitty to escape through. One beat and you know what would hit the fan. We bet the cat would quickly find a different place to nap.
Once this cat got busted by her owner, she had a lot to say. In her mind, this was some kind of cool toy placed out just for her enjoyment. We get it.
67. There’s a problem here
It’s one thing for a dog to chew up plants, pillows, and shoes. But when it comes to cold-hard cash, well, that takes things to another level. But we’ll give this pup credit for his amazing side glance of innocence.
When the baby’s pacifiers kept disappearing, this dog’s owner had a pretty good idea who was taking them. But they hadn’t seen any physical proof. Then one day, the thief’s identity was confirmed.
Surely, if the bag of dog food is constantly ripped open, there must be mice in the house. Nope. It was just the family dog who wanted a tasty snack.
This adorable pup wasn’t trying to be naughty. It’s just that he’d had the same look for years and thought a foo-man-chu mustache would make him appear cooler.
This owner discovered something unique about their dog. While away from home, she’d steal bread. But instead of eating it, she’d just keep it close by as if saving it for a rainy day. This is what they see when they come home.
72. Pointing fingers (or should we say paws)
“She did it.” “No, he did it.” Okay, it doesn’t really matter which one of these two tore up the toilet paper. They’re both naughty but also super cute.
This person loved setting out fresh flowers. But even with the best care, they’d die within a matter of days. After walking in on this, she knows why. Maybe she should go with a silk arrangement instead.
Hearing her owner come home, this gorgeous girl decided to greet them by the door with a long string of toilet paper. Hey, dogs don’t understand how the whole bathroom thing works so maybe she deserves a break.
75. Pleading self-defense
That stuffed animal attacked this dog so he had no choice but to act in self-defense. It’s a good story but we’re not sure his owner believed it. It seems logical to us.
