The moose is one of the largest land mammals in North America.
A typical male moose stands seven feet tall and weighs about 1,400 pounds.
We usually associate moose with living in the wilderness and away from crowds of people or a city.
So, if you saw a moose walking towards you, it would be quite a sight to see.
This is exactly what happened in Providence, Alaska.
While moose are common in Alaska, it’s not common for them to mingle with people.
However, the moose in this video went straight into a place full of people.
A young moose walked into Providence Health Park, a medical building in Providence.
“We received a call from one of our tenants advising that a moose had just walked into a building,” Randy Hughes of Providence Health Park told Inside Edition.
It seems the calf was attracted by the green plants inside the building and walked straight through the automatic doors.
The moose spent time near the hospital’s cancer center and other offices.
After the moose entered, it wandered around the lobby for a while and snacked on the green plants.
Although the moose was calm and posed no immediate danger to the bystanders, the building’s security team promptly moved into action to usher it back outside.
Moose are not naturally aggressive, but they can attack in self-defense if they get stressed.
This is why getting the moose out safely and quickly was important.
Moreover, many people from inside the building gathered around the moose to watch it going around the lobby.
“We did an overhead system announcement for safety, but it seemed it was like a magnet for people to come and see it. It’s not everyday you get a moose walking into a building,” Hughes said.
The building’s security team used furniture to block the moose’s path and guide it toward the door.
In the video, you can see them moving around chairs and sofas to create a path for the moose towards the door.
The security staff also used their bodies and arms to show the moose the way out.
Finally, the moose exited the same way he came in – calmly and through the automatic doors.
Hughes said the moose probably had enough of people watching him walk around and eat, so he was ready to go outside.
Seeing a moose inside a building is quite a unique experience!
It’s no wonder this young moose and his misadventures inside a building made it to the local news.
We’re glad the moose came and left Providence Health Park without any incident.
The calf seemed unbothered during the whole time, and the bystanders were probably more excited than it was.
We hope the young moose left the building happy and with a belly full of delicious green plants!
Hopefully, he finds his snacks elsewhere next time, and doesn’t decide to wander into another building again.
