The connection between animals and humans often begins from a very young age.
Dogs, in particular, tend to form a special bond with their human siblings.
Initially, there might be a hint of jealousy, but once the little ones start walking and cuddling, the dogs usually warm up to them.
This was exactly the case in one family’s home when baby Chloe was introduced to her furry siblings, Colby and Bleu.
Her parents had their concerns about how the dogs would react to the new addition to the family.
They hoped the dogs would become her protectors and best friends, despite worries that Chloe’s arrival might cause some jealousy.
To their delight, Colby and Bleu instantly fell in love with Chloe.
As she grew, the dogs discovered they could cleverly use her to their advantage.
Known for their love of food, Colby and Bleu would wake up early, eager for breakfast, often before their human parents were awake.
Chloe’s growing up brought new opportunities for Colby and Bleu.
They realized that Chloe was a bit messy while eating, which worked out in their favor.
They would follow her around, hoping to clean up any snacks she dropped.
They even found that sitting under her highchair during meals was a great strategy, as Chloe would occasionally drop them a bite or two, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not.
Chloe’s dad, Chris, shared, “Colby parks himself under Chloe’s high chair every night. Lately, she’s gotten tall enough to reach into their food bin, so she scoops out kibble and drops it for them, much to our chagrin.”
Chloe was not just a messy eater; she was also taking initiative in caring for her pets.
Most parents struggle to get their kids to take care of pets, but Chloe was a natural.
However, she had a few more surprises in store for her parents.
One morning, Chloe’s mother, Nina, was shocked to find Chloe wandering around the house alone.
How had she managed to get out of her bed? Her bed was designed to prevent escapes, complete with a mesh screen to protect her from falling out.
Plus, Chloe hadn’t yet learned how to open doors. “We were shocked! How was she able to get out of bed? This is the first time she’s ever made an escape like this. Did she grow?” Nina wondered.
Determined to solve the mystery, Chloe’s parents turned to the baby camera in her room.
To their astonishment, they discovered that the family dogs were the masterminds behind Chloe’s escape.
At 6 a.m., Colby and Bleu would enter Chloe’s room, quietly coax her awake, and one of them would even use her favorite toy to lure her out of bed.
Their plan was simple yet effective: get Chloe to feed them their breakfast.
That morning, Chloe was on her way to the kitchen to scoop out some kibble for them when her mother caught her.
These clever dogs had found a way to ensure they got their meal on time, or at least they tried.
If their adult humans weren’t going to get up, they knew they could count on Chloe.
Once Chris and Nina understood what was happening, they couldn’t help but laugh. Realizing the need for some changes, Chris remarked, “I knew we had to childproof our house. Guess we’ll have to dog-proof it too.”
Chloe continued to share a great bond with Colby and Bleu, often feeding them treats and some of her food.
