Emma Massingale knows her horses like the back of her hand. She also knows that they deserve the best that life has to offer.
However, all that life has to offer can be costly, and more often than not, exclusively reserved for humans.
Take “spa days”, for instance. They’re not cheap and, more than likely, there’s not a place to take a horse for one in your immediate area.
So, Emma’s bringing the spa to them.
Emma decided to set up a spa day for her two Shetland ponies, Albert and Ernie.
Albert is a rescued standard Shetland pony and Ernie is a miniature Shetland pony.
Shetland ponies have roamed the hills and moors of Shetland for 4,000 years at least.
This hardy breed is unique to the land and all those years have turned them into tough little haulers who found work in British coal mines during the 19th century.
They could pass through low, underground tunnels hauling huge loads of coal.
Needless to say, they deserved some pampering.
Shetlands are mainly used for attractions today. Kids ride them during shows and even adults can get away with riding one for pleasure.
But Albert and Ernie?
Well Emma’s got them wrapped in towels, there’s shampoo ready, and the parlor is open.
Now I don’t know about you but the past year’s drama has me craving for a good massage…
Albert and Ernie get their manes rolled and curled, and there’s even a mirror set up just for them. Might as well be vain while they’re at it, right?
It’s incredible Emma pulled this off.
Either she’s trained them well or those ponies are exceptionally well-behaved and enjoying the special treatment.
Those golden locks are done so Emma whips out a hairdryer to make sure those locks glisten under the sun. How eighties rock star are those pony locks?
Albert and Ernie get to lay down now with hot stones evenly spread across their broad bodies, and once done, how about nail polish? Or… hoof polish?
Whatever, it’s time for sunbathing.
With towels under their heads, the ponies go for mud masks to remove all the impurities on their faces.
When that’s done, there’s a bubbly pool waiting to make sure they stay as relaxed as can be.
We all want to be these ponies right now.
Now that they’ve been pampered, they can sleep all day.
Not unless it’s one of those spas that offer you a drink of your choice. Some would go for tea, others wine, while most just ask for water.
Who knows what kind of drink Albert and Ernie demanded? Maybe a “Moscow Mule”?
Either way, these ponies were clearly made to be pampered and reveled in every minute of it.
