It doesn’t only take a village to raise a child.
A resident in a neighborhood in St. Louis was walking her dog when she found something that can only be described as “straight out of a movie.”
Together with her dog, she watched as this child walked down the street in his pajamas. Right beside the boy is his trusty companion, a pit bull, who walked with him through the journey. Who is this boy anyway?
The boy, Kh’amorion Taylor, was reported as lost.
He somehow slipped out of the house wearing nothing but his pajamas and strolled about. The entire morning would’ve been a nightmare for Kh’amorion’s parents as they scoured the area just to find him.
It was then that the resident, a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous, spotted the child walking about. He was not alone, however.
The neighbor said that there was a pit bull walking beside him.
The child also looked unharmed. She said that Kh’amorion looked “well taken care of,” “was very neat,” and “very clean.” Besides the fact that he doesn’t have his shoes on, Kh’amorion seemed fine.
Meanwhile, the dog beside him seemed to guard the boy so harm wouldn’t befall him. His trusty companion stayed with him until they were spotted.
The neighbor then stopped what she was doing and took the two under her wing.
To find Kh’amorio’s parents, the neighbor went from one door to another. She knocked and asked if someone recognizes the boy. Some didn’t answer the door, and those who did had no idea who the child is.
She then posted the information over to a social media platform that Kh’amorion’s father was luckily using. Finally, the excruciating hours of separation came to an end. The neighbor and the boy’s dad decided to meet so he can be reunited with his son.
As for the neighbor, she just said that it’s all about “community”.
“It is important that we stick together, that we help each other, that we go back to the things that our grandparents and their community used to do,” she told FOX 2. “That we build a sense of unity.”
But while it takes a village to raise and protect a child, it also helps to have a loyal companion who will scare away harm.
Pit bulls suffer from an ill-conceived reputation that makes them look and sound like they are the meanest breed imaginable. But with this story, it is again proved that these dogs are gentle to children.
It was something that Kh’amorion seemed to agree on.
According to the news outlet, the boy kept saying “puppy” as the reunion took place. It somehow confirmed that even as strangers, these two souls took a liking to each other.
It was not mentioned whether the dog was abandoned or grew up around the area as a stray. They also didn’t specify for how long the dog has been staying in the neighborhood.
Meanwhile, the St. Louis Police Department is considering adopting the pit bull.
