Mischievous dog sneaks into house next door every night to join in kids’ bathtime
It's her favorite time of day!

It’s not often that you find a dog who’s a fan of bath time. Dogs are pretty chill animals until you get them around water, and for many of our pooches, bath time is one of their least favorite experiences. But every so often, you come across a dog who goes against the norm, and that was clearly the case for our next story.

One staffie from Melbourne, Australia has a pretty complicated relationship with bath times, and is selective about when she is and isn’t in the mood for a bath. Hilariously, despite the stubborn pup hating to be cleaned when it’s not on her terms, she’s still totally up for getting in the bath with the next door neighbor’s kids.

Yep, you read that right- this hilarious pooch seems to get a pretty strong case of FOMO- and only wants to have a bath when the neighbor’s children are having one. But how did this whole thing start in the first place?

It all began when Aeida’s family moved next door to a family with a very special member- Cashew the dog. From the moment they first met, Aeida and Cashew became the best of friends, and they became so obsessed with each other that their owners wanted to create a way that they would be able to see each other whenever they wanted.

“Aeida is very friendly and loving. She really just loves everyone and anything — especially our neighbors’ children,” Nicole Ackehurst, Aeida’s mom, told The Dodo.

So the two families decided to build a doggy door between the houses, giving each dog direct access to the other whenever they fancied. One night, Nicole noticed that Aeida had been gone for some time, and hilariously, the mischievous dog had snuck off to do something that dogs don’t willingly do- and was taking a bath.

“Our neighbors sent us a Facebook message with Aeida sitting in their bathtub,” Nicole said. “We believe that was the first time she had done it.”

Ever since that day, Aeida always disappears at the same time to go and have a bath with the neighbor’s two children.

Apparently, the stubborn dog normally hates taking a bath – but for some strange reason she’s quite happy to do it as long as her two favorite people are involved!

“She will join them at bath time at every chance she gets,” Nicole said.

Thankfully, Nicole’s neighbors were totally cool with Aeida joining them for bath time, and if the funny dog is willingly keeping herself clean, then it’s pretty great news for Nicole as well!

“I’m pretty sure our neighbors love having her over, just as we love having Cashew come over too,” Nicole said. “Aeida and Cashew are great friends, and have such a strong bond. They’re both considered great parts of our families.”

We think it’s a completely brilliant idea to have a doggy door for the two best friends to visit each other, and we’re pretty jealous now that our neighbors don’t own a dog! You can see more adorable photos of the sweet pooch over at Aeida the Staffy on Instagram.
