One night, Paris Zarcilla decided to go into his bedroom in his London home to grab a sweater. When he walked into his room, he found something very surprising waiting for him.
There was a stray cat lying underneath Zarcilla’s bed. And that cat had just given birth to a litter of kittens.
Zarcilla took to Twitter to express his surprise at what he found in his room. He had gone up to his room simply to get a sweater, and now, he was a cat dad! Understandably, he was shocked by this development.

Zarcilla’s Twitter thread quickly went viral, with over 80,000 people liking the original tweet. Zarcilla kept updating this thread throughout his first night with the kittens.
Zarcilla realized that the mama cat and her kittens needed his help, and so he quickly jumped into action. He ordered cat food online and started figuring out how to care for these little creatures.

Zarcilla quickly adjusted to his new role as cat dad. He revealed that the cats were helping him as much as he was helping them:
“This is too much. I’m approaching nirvana. I legitimately suffer from anxiety attacks and depression and my capacity to deal with it recently has been waning. The Cat Gods have smiled upon me with benevolence and turned the monsters under my bed into kittens.”
Zarcilla is planning on taking the mama cat to the vet to check for a microchip. If she doesn’t have an owner, he says he’ll adopt the cat and the kittens himself. On Twitter, he wrote a heartwarming message to his new cats, saying that he will always look after them:
“To my cat sons and daughters, I’ll be the hero you deserve, but not the one it needs right now (because of mama cat). So I’ll hunt for you, because I can afford it. I’ll be your silent guardian, your watchful protector. Love, #CatDad.”
After a long first night with his new kittens, Zarcilla finally tried to go to sleep. In the morning, he went to check on the cats and found the mama cat hard at work looking after her kittens.

Since this is all so new, Zarcilla hasn’t had a chance to name the cats yet. But once he has a chance to catch his breath, he’s planning on thinking up the perfect names for his new little family.
Within the span of just one day, Zarcilla’s whole life has changed. It almost seems like the mama cat chose to give birth in Zarcilla’s home for a reason. She seemed to know she was going into the home of someone with a big heart, someone who would provide her and her babies with love and care for years to come.
