A dog is a man’s best friend. This statement serves as a reminder of how dogs change our lives significantly over the course of history.
They are known for their loyalty and bravery.
Owning a dog means that you have a best friend for life.
Dog’s loyalty and bravery have been proven true on many occasions.
One of which is what this article is all about. Monroe, a 6-year-old dog, showed us that she’s a man’s best friend.
The incident happened one night in Wichita, Kansas when a house caught on fire.
Tyler Revel fell asleep while watching a football game and was oblivious to what was happening.
His dog, Monroe, started nudging him and whining.
He even tried to shoo the dog away, but the dog was determined to wake his human up.
Tyler finally woke up and saw thick smoke surrounding him.
Unable to breathe properly due to the smoke filling the house, he managed to grab the dog and went outside just as the fire got bigger.
It took his entire house into shambles, taking all of his belongings into a pile of ash.
As Tyler saw the aftermath of the incident, he was still in disbelief, but happy to be alive because of Monroe. “She [Monroe] didn’t even hesitate,” he shared in a local news agency. “She knew something was wrong and she had to get me out of there. And that’s what she did.”
“She’s my best friend, man. She’s a good dog,” Tyler added, “She’s a good dog. She’s my hero right now. And I really, I’m really proud of her.”
The 6-year-old Monroe is the only reason he’s alive.
He said they just got out in the nick of time, he’s given all the credit to his canine companion. “I think if she wasn’t there I would not make it out alive,” expressed Revel.
With this incident, he said he already has a new perspective on life. “I think we take a lot for granted. All that stuff in there isn’t what matters, they can all be replaced,” Tyler shared with a shaky voice. “She can’t like I can’t. I’m just… It is a humbling experience.”
Unfortunately, his cat, Boo, could not be found but Tyler was still hoping that the cat is okay and may have run off while the fire ensued.
But was later found out that the cat also sadly died because of the fire.
His family set up a GoFundMe for him to help with the expenses that he would be facing after his house was gone because of the fire.
It would also help him get back on his feet, along with Monroe.
Kimberly Revel, Tyler’s sister, mentioned on the GoFundMe page, “My brother has a huge heart and always gives to others when he can,” she said. “In the spirit of giving, especially around the holidays, I’m asking if you would feel called to give a donation of any amount to help my brother rebuild his life in a time of need.”
Monroe is a true embodiment of “A man’s best friend.” We’re rooting for them to get back to their feet anytime soon and still have a merry Christmas.
