Texas resident Dara Prak loves his pit bull Titan more than anything else in the world. Prak got Titan when he was just a puppy, and the two quickly bonded.
In March 2018, tragedy struck. Titan vanished from Prak’s backyard, and Prak found his collar lying on the ground. Because of that, Prak suspected that he had been kidnapped.
Prak posted about his beloved dog’s disappearance on his Facebook page, hoping that someone would have information that could help him. Prak also frequently visited the shelters around his home in Houston, Texas. He kept Titan’s collar and leash in his car at all times just in case.
After three months, Prak started to lose hope that he would ever see his beloved dog again. But then, he received a shocking call.
A shelter in South Carolina called him and asked if he was missing a dog. When he said yes, they said they had found an abused, skinny dog walking along the road. When they scanned his microchip, it revealed his true identity.
“I got that phone call and knew. I just knew I had to get to South Carolina,” Prak told ABC News. “It was about 16 hours with stops. I just can’t wait to see him. I can’t wait to see him. We’re going to be back together. He’s home. He’s my baby.”
Prak and his girlfriend hopped in the car and drove to South Carolina as fast as they could. When they arrived, it was time for the reunion Prak had been dreaming of for months.
“I never lost hope in finding him,” said Prak. “I just didn’t know it would be in South Carolina.”
Prak and Titan were both overwhelmed at first when they saw each other. But then, Titan started wagging his tail in happiness, and Prak cried tears of joy.
These two best friends had been through so much, but they were finally together again!
Now, Titan is happily back home in Houston, and he’s beginning to heal from his injuries.
Prak is so happy to have his best friend back home. He’s also glad that he had Titan microchipped—without the microchip, he may have never seen Titan again.
We may never know who kidnapped Titan, but one thing is for sure: Titan is now back in a wonderful home with a dad who loves him more than anything. We’re so happy these two were reunited!
