You might not think that grizzlies get along with polar bears, but in this case, they do. Mark Dumas, a.k.a. Grizzly Man, is best friends with a polar bear and they do just about everything together.
They cuddle together and hug a lot. They wrestle around together. They chase each other and take pictures together. They often swim together. Heck, these two even sleep together!
Dumas and his polar bear Agee are like two peas in a pod. Dumas, who lives in British Columbia, has spent more than 40 years as a bear trainer.
Though his adult female polar bear stands more than 7-feet tall when she stands on her hind legs, he isn’t threatened by his live-in predator. That doesn’t mean that she isn’t dangerous to other humans.
“If anyone else tried this they would end up as Agee’s dinner,” Dumas told Daily Mail. ‘The only people in the whole world she likes are my wife and I. I have worked with bears in this way for over 40 years so I can read Agee’s body language and know how to behave safely around her.”
There is one main mantra that Dumas lives by when it come to Agee, “Agee is the boss and it’s her rules that count.”
