When you’ve lost a pet, you’re probably going to do whatever you can to get them back again. Some people appeal on social media, while others stick up posters and offer cash prizes for the return of their beloved animal. It’s like losing a member of the family and the shock of it can hit people hard.

However, if your pet doesn’t show up, eventually people will face the heartbreaking task of trying to move on. Although you can never forget the pet you’ve lost, there comes a time when the period of mourning comes to an end and you may begin to consider getting another pet.

This is what happened to one man from Liverpool, United Kingdom, but he wasn’t expecting his story to end like it did!

29-year-old Delon Pearson and his son were heartbroken when their 8-year-old Akita dog was stolen from the front garden of their home last year.

Delon frantically searched and appealed for his dog, Missy, but finally had to accept that he was never going to see her again. After a period of heartache, he decided that it was time for the family to get a new dog and began to search online.

However, Delon was left shocked to the core when he accidentally stumbled across a dog that looked exactly like Missy on the website of Skylor’s Animal Rescue in Dobshill, Flintshire, North Wales. He immediately got in touch with the rescue center and explained his situation.

The more that Delon looked at the image of the pup, the more that he grew to trust in the fact that it was his lost pup, Missy.

“It was unbelievable, all this time looking for her without any results and with a search done on Google after almost a year, we managed to find her. We checked the result several times, including enlarging the photo, and to our surprise, it was our beloved dog,” Delon told Bored Panda.

Apparently, the rescue center had found Missy a few months earlier.

She’d been abandoned by the people who had stolen her and was tied up at a car wash in Manchester. Missy was fostered until she found her forever home, and around that time she was chipped, meaning it was then not possible to find her original owners.

After the necessary checks, Delon received the exciting news that Missy was his once more.

He was allowed to collect her the next day, but he decided to keep it as a surprise from 8-year-old son, Bradley, who had grown up alongside Missy. What an awesome surprise that must have been!

The family drove to Flintshire as soon as possible and met up with Missy again. It must have been a very emotional moment. The center warned Delon that Missy might take a bit of time to adjust, but the pooch recognized her old owners straight away and hasn’t left Bradley’s side since they arrived home!

We’re so happy that this lovely family was able to be reunited once more. What a happy ending!
