We all have defining moments in our life. They usually don’t feel like huge decisions when we make them, but when we look back, we see just how impactful they really were. For one man, a trip to the train tracks turned into a story of reuniting and joy.
While driving in his truck one day, a man stumbled onto an unfortunate situation.
A set of train tracks held an unfortunate situation. The man who drove up on the scene noticed an animal was crawling back and forth on the tracks and when he looked closer, realized it was a dog. A husky was out and about wandering in the cold across an active train route.
Rolling his window down and getting the pup’s attention, he was finally able to get her to sit still.
The man knew that he wasn’t going to be able to drive away with a clear conscience. Rolling down his window, he stopped the husky from running down the tracks further by whistling to get her attention. Once she stopped, he knew what he needed to do.
Most dogs who have escaped won’t let you anywhere near them!
A loose husky isn’t going to be caught unless they want you to catch them. In good condition, a husky can run for a few miles without stopping once. The reality of the man catching the dog didn’t look good.
“I am 100% sure this dog is going to run away from me, but I never just leave a dog out.”
Getting out of his car, the man started whistling and getting low to the ground.
Like we all know, “pspspspsps” is the best way to call a cat or dog (I don’t think we even know why). Incredibly, the nervous dog slowly walked towards the man and rolled over on her belly right in front of him! The poor girl was obviously scared and wanted the comfort of a human.
Petting her head and picking her up, the man officially had control of the scared dog.
From their initial interaction, you can easily see how sweet and gentle the husky was. She was like a big teddy bear that was happy in the arms of a complete stranger! There was no way she had been out for long with behavior like this.
The man took her to scan for a microchip.
Many owners implant chips into their dog’s skin in case they ever get out. It has their contact details in case the worst happens. Unfortunately, the pup didn’t have a microchip and they had no way to contact her owners. Soon, the shelter closed, and the man took the husky home.
Only a few hours into her sleepover and she was already a part of the family.
Snuggling on the couch with the rest of the family and playing with the other dogs, you would never know the husky hadn’t been living there for years! The [human] couple didn’t know what they were going to do if the owners weren’t found!
At 10 pm they got a call.
The owners had been found! They immediately drove over to the man’s house to see their lost dog. In a bittersweet moment, the man and his wife had to say goodbye to the sweet girl they shared the past day with. While it was a sad moment, a family was saved mountains of grief from one man stopping on a set of train tracks.
