UK couple Dave and Sarah are huge movie buffs. From E.T. to Wayne’s World, they’ve seen it all. A few years ago, the couple decided to do something unique with their love for movies: they began recreating their favorite scenes with their cats Tara and Willow!
Dave and Sarah first used their photos as clues in their local pub quiz. They told Love Meow:
“We host a pub quiz every few weeks, so we started doing [the pictures] for the film/TV round, and we enjoyed it so much we decided to keep doing it as a regular quiz question.”
The photos were hugely popular with Dave and Sarah’s friends, so they decided to start posting the photos on Instagram. They quickly started racking up followers, and they now have over 67,000 people eagerly awaiting their next movie recreation.
Dave and Sarah have recreated tons of movies with their cats, from classics to newer movies. One of their most popular photos is this perfect recreation of the famous bicycle scene in E.T. Tara took on the iconic role of the alien who just wanted to go home, and Dave played Elliot.
There’s also this hilarious Alien recreation, with one of the cats playing the chest-burster alien. The cat’s definitely a little cuter than the original alien!
Dave and his cats have also done a pitch-perfect recreation of the burglar scene in Home Alone.
They also turned American Beauty into American Kitty.
They’ve also covered the romance genre, with scenes from The Notebook…
…and the famous sculpting scene from Ghost.
Since the cats aren’t professional actors, there are many photos where the cats break character.
Dave and Sarah share these ‘outtake’ photos on their Casual Movie Cats page. This page includes hilarious photos, like this photo of Tara looking completely bored while she bursts out of Dave’s chest.
Then there’s this photo of one of the cats totally not getting into their Lady and the Tramp photoshoot.
Overall, though, Tara and Willow enjoy doing the photos, even if they don’t completely understand what their owners are doing.
“The cats clearly think we’re weird, but they get loads of treats doing it which tends to be their main focus,” Dave says.
