Food sharing clearly isn’t for everyone. While cats generally don’t have the issue of humans being interested in their meal, this owner wanted to try something out to see if his kitten was up for sharing his food with him. The owner of the cat placed a bowl of yummy cat food on the floor, but then crawled to his knees himself and tried to ‘steal his food’ from him.

In a household with multiple cats, some felines don’t really like sharing their food with their buddies. It turns out that the same thing applies to cats and their human friends, at least according to this hilarious video.

When the kitten reaches in to grab a bit of his snack, the man simply pulls the bowl with food away from his cat.

Next, he actually pretends to eat from the bowl by making eating noises and gestures. Apparently, the kitten fell for it and believed his precious meal was in danger.

The cat then thinks that it can do the exact same thing: pull the bowl closer to him. Every time the owner decides to put his cat’s generosity to the test, the kitten adorably uses his paw to drag the bowl closer to him again. He seems to be really hungry and absolutely isn’t keen on sharing.

According to cat behavior website Pet-Happy, cats generally don’t share food with others.

“First, they each want their own food. That is, if you pour the food in the same bowl for all your cats, that may not be how they would prefer.

Of course, you might say: “My cats like eating from the same bowl, they are buddies,” and they might as well show no objection. However, remember, naturally, food is the primary resource for any animal. It’s essential for survival, and, if a threat is for it being taken away, a cat would defend the food at all costs.

If we adapt it to a household situation, it’s not a “touch my food, and you will die” case, but still, the competition is in there.”

That certainly explains a lot!

The two continue to play a “tug of war” for a while and constantly pull the bowl towards each other. The man seems to be giving a very realistic impression of eating the cat food, and the interaction between this funny owner and his loveable cat is definitely worth watching.
