When lockdown first hit, people soon realized that they were going to have to find their own methods of entertainment. Those with pets were feeling pretty smug – and we’re sure the pets were pretty pleased about their owners suddenly being home all the time as well. It was around this time that lockdown seemed to spark a rise in talented pet videos, as people spent the time teaching their pets new tricks, otherwise simply noticing special talents that they hadn’t previously spotted in their pets.
We’ve seen so many brilliant videos, but we think this next one is pretty unique.
During quarantine back in April, a man decided to form a two-man band with his parrot, and we’re being deadly serious when we say that the pair actually make some seriously good music. The musician shares his performances on YouTube, and we think they’re absolutely brilliant!
Frank Maglio of Nokomis, Florida, loves to sing and play the guitar around the house. As we know, parrots are brilliant imitators, but Frank was a little surprised when he realized that his pet parrot, Tico, actually has a fabulous singing voice!
One day, the charismatic parrot began to join in singing when Frank was playing his guitar, and the pair made such a good duo that Frank and his partner decided to film the whole thing to share with their friends and family. They had no idea that their videos would soon be going viral!
Frank shares his videos over on YouTube account Frank Maglio, and they’ve all racked up an impressive amount of views. Frank’s video, ‘Stairway to Heaven’ has over 57,000 views, whereas ‘My own riff,’ which features some pretty impressive high notes from Tico, has built up over 19,000 views.
By far the sweetest thing about these videos is the way that Frank continuously smiles fondly at his talented parrot. You can tell that the pair have a special bond, and with their shared love of music, it really is just the cherry on top!
Frank and his wife never expected their videos to become as popular as they did, but they’re happy that Tico’s talent has been recognized.
“We decided to film this and share it with our family and friends,” Tico’s mom said. “Everyone seemed to really enjoy the video and started sharing it with their friends. People started requesting for Tico to sing more songs.”
In another video, titled, ‘Don’t worry about a thing’, Tico jams along to the classic Bob Marley song and the video soon built up over 30k viewers. But instead of singing along to the lyrics, Tico makes up his own- and they actually work incredibly well with the music from the guitar!
Frank can’t help laughing as Tico hits a few impressive high notes, but ever the professional, the talented musician carries on playing the guitar so that Tico can continue to have his moment.
