Everybody loves to take a lazy nap once in a while – and it turns out that’s especially true for cats.
When this man decided to close his eyes for a bit outside, he never expected to find a new best friend immediately when he woke up.
Ali Safa from Canberra, Australia, decided to have a nice lazy day at home. Playing some games, watching some tv and hanging out in the garden to enjoy the beautiful sun – Ali was looking forward to all of it.
When he took a nap outside and woke up again, he wasn’t alone anymore.
An adorable, small stray kitten had found its way on Ali’s stomach – and she was still sleeping when the young man woke up!
“I was taking a nap on the balcony of our house, and, like two hours later, I woke up and I found her just napping on my stomach,” Ali said to The Dodo. “At first, I thought she was a rat.”
The furry little feline decided to give Ali plenty of attention, even while she was sleeping.
“I never really had a pet and I am a bit of a loner so I don’t have many friends, too,” the man mentions. “While she was sleeping I kept hearing that ‘purr’ sound cats make and it was the cutest (stuff) I have ever heard.”
What’s the first thing you do when you spot a strange sleeping kitten on your stomach? Take a selfie, of course.
He decided to post the funny picture and story on the internet, but he never expected it to go viral. The photo has received more than a hundred thousands upvotes on Reddit!
Even though the local area has plenty of stray cats roaming around, Ali felt that this kitten was different. After all, they’ve already bonded over their mutual love for naps. And this cat did think that Ali’s stomach was the best place to take a nap, so they were pretty much best friends already.
“[I] wasn’t really bothered if she has fleas or anything like that ’cause I thought to myself, ‘If she does have fleas, I probably already have fleas, too, so whatever.'”
Eventually, the cat did wake up as well and they instantly made a connection.
Of course, she was a stray cat so her condition wasn’t ideal. The kitten was clearly malnourished and was possibly injured or ill as well. Realizing that she might be hungry, Ali then decided to share a meal with her.
“The first thing she does is step down [off] the sofa, look me in the eyes and start meowing nonstop for 20 seconds,” he said in a comment to his Reddit-post. “She’s obviously hungry, so guess who’s sharing the chicken wings my mom made?”
Ali wanted to make sure that she’d be all right, so he brought her inside to give her a bath.
The feline had a couple of remarkable gray patches on her fur. Ali thought that it was dirt at first, but they were markings instead. He noticed how calm the kitten was around him and he started to entertain the idea of adopting her. The poor kitten was lonely and could use a family, so he decided to give her exactly that.
“There really aren’t any house rules against pets in my family and she looked like she can use some family, so I was like, ‘Screw it, I’m keeping her.’”
The man took her to the vet clinic and purchase some food and toys.
He also asked people on Reddit what he should name her, but ultimately decided to go with ‘Angel’. A beautiful and fitting name for a cute little feline such as her.
Luckily, the visit to the veterinarian went well. Angel was healthy but still needed to have a microchip implanted.
A couple of weeks have passed since Ali and Angel first met, and things couldn’t go any better.
The two besties are inseparable and they provide each other with some sweet tender loving care.
Angel’s personality really started to shine when she was welcomed into the home, and she definitely has a bit of cheeky side! Ali doesn’t seem to mind at all, however.
“All I can say is that she is the most fun cat I have ever gotten to play with,” Ali mentioned. “All she does is just roam around me all the day wanting pets or to play.”
“I’d be on my laptop working and she would just jump on my keyboard and sit between my arms,” he added. “Picking her up and putting her down on the ground won’t help because she would just jump right back up until she gets the petting she wants.”
