Having a dog is one of the greatest joys in life. When you see how much these adorable creatures love, it’s difficult not to fall in love with them back. But sometimes, a person can no longer take care of their pet. Usually, that’s a sad time for the owner but it’s even more difficult on the animal.

This is how every year, countless animals end up without homes. But there are good people out there who go above and beyond to help out whenever they can. When it comes to needy animals, these are the true heroes.

One man is proof of that

Lionel Vytialingam, who lives in Ipoh, Malaysia, was recently coming home from a trip to the grocery store. Then, he heard horns honking from the surrounding cars honking. That’s when he saw an anxious-looking dog walking by the side of the road.

He decided to follow

The pup looked so upset that Vytialingam knew he had to help. So, he followed the dog in his car. But once he got closer to the animal, he noticed something strange.

There was something attached to her collar

At first, she wouldn’t let the man approach her. She was wary, and with him being a stranger, she didn’t trust him, at least not yet. After watching him for about 10 minutes, the dog finally came up to him. That’s when he realized the strange thing on her collar was a note.

He spoke to her in a gentle tone

Vytialingam didn’t want to spook the pup. So, he asked her if he could remove the note from her collar. She allowed him to take it. Then, he started to read. It said, “Hi! My name is Siggy and I’m the most loving and attentive doggy you’ll ever see!”

But there was more

The next part of the note read, “My master is very sorry he had to leave me here with you but he just can’t look after me anymore. I’m very sorry about that, as I am sure he is too. Please take me into your home. Please let me be a part of your family. Please love me.”

This note was heartbreaking

In a Facebook post, Vytialingam said, “By this time she had formed the most intense, most pleading eye contact with me from under her matted fringe. I unhooked the note, opened it up, and read it right there crouched by the roadside.”

Vytialingam hoped there’d be some information about the owner…a name, phone number, or address. He explains, “I thought. But it was…sigh, a different sorta note. And I broke down in tears, one hand firmly grasping onto her sticky knots of fur.”

Making the right decision

After looking at her adorable face, it’s not like he could just leave Siggy on the streets to fend for herself. He decided to take her home. And surprisingly, she jumped into the car without hesitation, ready for a new beginning.

A remarkable transformation

Siggy wasn’t in the best condition when Vytialingam found her. He knew he had to do something. So, he’d fix her up. He bathed her and even used a blow dryer to make her fur soft and fluffy. She received a spa treatment, something she desperately needed.

Vytialingam has an important message

He wants people to remember they shouldn’t get a pet unless they’re ready for a full-on commitment. After all, it’s a lot of work. He says people shouldn’t base a decision to get a pet on mood swings or other emotional factors.

Siggy’s forever home

Luckily, Siggy now has a new home. She’ll go live with Vytialingam’s brother. But before that can happen, she has to wait until the quarantine is over. Even while waiting, she’s already starting to enjoy her new life.

One man’s kindness completely changed a sweet dog’s life. Soon, Siggy will be happy in her new forever home.
