After a bad breakup, MK was broken-hearted and lonely. One day, he went out to do his laundry with tears in his eyes. MK didn’t know it, but a tiny ginger kitten cat was sitting outside his apartment, overheating in the extreme summer weather.
When MK opened the door, the kitten darted into his apartment to escape the hot weather.
MK followed the kitten into his apartment and examined him.
The kitten’s eyes were crusted shut with pus and he was very hot. MK gave the kitten some cold water to help cool him down. He also noticed that the kitten was hungry. MK didn’t have any cat food, so he simply tore up some fajita meat and added it to the water. MK named the little kitten Fajita after the first meal that they ate together.
Fajita had a persistent sneeze, so MK decided to take him to the vet.
He ran out to the pet store to grab the cat a carrier. Fajita waited patiently in MK’s apartment, and he was excited to see MK when he came back. MK told Love Meow:
“I had to earn the cat’s trust to get him in the carrier but when we were alone together waiting for the vet to come into the room, we bonded.”
The vet told MK that the cat had an upper respiratory infection and conjunctivitis, which was why his eyes were crusted shut. He also said that Fajita wasn’t microchipped, so it seemed like he was a stray. The vet cleaned out Fajita’s eyes and put him on a dose of antibiotics to clear out the infection.
MK and Fajita went home, both exhausted from the day’s activities. Fajita curled up on MK’s lap, and MK’s heart melted.
MK asked Fajita, ‘Do you want to be my cat?’ The kitten meowed, saying yes.
“I broke into tears,” MK told Love Meow. “I was feeling so alone and lost after the breakup. His little meow filled my heart with love again.”
When Fajita and MK found each other, they were both hurting and needed help. This kitten and his new owner truly rescued each other!
