If you love dogs, this video will be included in your favorites.
And if you love dogs, one of your ultimate goals in life is to save them from abuse and abandonment.
Watch and learn from the story of Mary, a dog once abused who’s now found her forever home.
Mary’s story
The Foxy and the Hounds dog rescue organization received a call about a mom dog with a litter of puppies that needed help.
They immediately went to the place and rescued these beautiful pups.
They processed papers for six puppies.
And they succeeded in sending these puppies to the right owners.
That included Mary.
But after a year and a half with her adopted family, the founder of Foxy and the Hounds, Terrie Fox, received a call from another shelter.
They said that Mary was with them.
Terrie immediately went to the shelter and once there, she found Mary with a wound on her nose and looking “so defeated and weak.”
Terrie’s heart sank.
She couldn’t believe a dog she’d helped rehome after a life of neglect ended up being neglected by a family she approved.
She became twice as determined to find Mary a family, one that would last her whole lifetime.
Fortunately, Mary recognized Terrie after she smelled her and started to kiss her even though she was still weak.
Before they could find Mary the perfect forever home, she would have to be placed with a good foster family.
Then came Doug and Michelle.
Mary stayed a few weeks with Doug and Michelle, a couple who loves dogs.
They already had 2 dogs they adopted after fostering.
Doug didn’t want another “foster fail”.
Doug was firm at first and said, “This is just a foster.”
Doug doesn’t like to be attached.
But as days passed by, Michelle noticed that Doug started to get attached to Mary.
She knew they’d be adding another dog to their “foster fail” family.
Knowing what Doug didn’t want to admit, Michelle decided to surprise doug on Christmas.
When he opened the gift from his wife, inside the small box were a set of dog tags.
They said “Mary”.
Doug couldn’t help but cry and kissed Mary.
This story is a reminder that we should be responsible pet owners and kind human beings.
And same with organizations like We Love Animals and Foxy and the Hounds who wish that no dog (or animal) experience what Mary has experienced.
Dogs deserve the best life.
See Doug learn that he will, in fact, be a “foster fail” once more in the video below!
