Clyde and Jason searched everywhere, but they had no success. Before long, a heartbroken Clyde had to return empty-handed to his home in Colorado.
But hope wasn’t lost. After hearing about the situation, many volunteers in Missouri decided to make it their mission to help find Goldie. Rescue organizations such as Found A Hound Rescue and Missouri Lost & Found Paws created a Facebook page called “Finding Goldie” where they shared updates and helped to spread the word.
The volunteers also posted lost dog fliers and set up humane foot traps to hopefully lure Goldie in.
But in the end, the scared dog was found by two good Samaritans, Julio Miguel Jimenez and Tim Criswell. She had been hit by a car and had crawled to the side of the road, where she lay down helplessly. Thankfully, she was rescued by the two kind men and taken to the vets.
Poor Goldie was in a critical condition when she arrived at the vet’s office.
Her injuries included pelvis fractures and possible vertebrae fractures too, as well as several infected wounds on her body. The poor pup had been involved in not one but two car crashes – and it was a miracle that she was alive.
Goldie is improving day by day, though her recovery is going to be a slow process. She’s not able to walk again yet, although she seems to have feeling in her legs, which is a promising sign. Her medical bills will cost around $3,000 in the end – but amazingly, a kind adopter from Found A Hound Rescue has offered to pay the whole amount, and many others have donated too.
Clyde and Jason were overwhelmed by the sheer number of kind, amazing people who helped them.
“There’s still love and caring out there. There’s still people willing to dedicate themselves and their time to help a complete stranger and I think people need to know that,” said Jason.
It just goes to show that there’s still plenty of kind people left in the world! To keep updated on how Goldie is doing, you can take a look at Finding Goldie, which is updated regularly. You can also donate to Found A Hound Rescue on Paypal to help dogs like Goldie.
