In a world where kindness often seems fleeting, there are still stories that warm our hearts and restore our faith in humanity.

One such tale revolves around a man named Blake and his special needs dog, Mr. Muggles.

Their bond shows the lengths one will go to ensure the well-being of a beloved pet.

Mr. Muggles was born with a condition called hydrocephalus, which is an accumulation of spinal fluid in the brain.

This condition can lead to increased pressure on the brain, causing various complications.

It’s believed that the breeder gave up on Mr. Muggles because of his condition. However, fate had other plans for this little dog. Road Dogs, a rescue organization, stepped in to save him.

One of their volunteers nurtured him back to health, setting the stage for his eventual adoption.

Blake’s journey with Mr. Muggles began when he contacted Road Dogs.

Due to the pressure hydrocephalus places on the brain, dogs with this condition cannot fly.

Undeterred, Blake drove 17 hours from LA to Seattle, with Mr. Muggles comfortably seated beside him. This long drive was just the beginning of their incredible bond.

Hydrocephalus can manifest differently in each dog. For Mr. Muggles, it meant he had a simpler outlook on life.

He had specific likes and dislikes, but what stood out the most was his affectionate nature.

He loved cuddling and being on laps, radiating happiness most of the time. Despite his medical condition, Mr. Muggles remained a beacon of joy.

A unique aspect of Mr. Muggles’ condition was the two open holes on the top of his head.

Recognizing the risks associated with these open fontanels, Blake decided to craft a protective helmet for his furry friend.

The available helmets in the market lacked adequate padding, which Blake deemed essential for Mr. Muggles’ safety.

Drawing from his background in the automotive space, Blake meticulously designed a helmet tailored for Mr. Muggles.

He created a stencil of the dog’s head, hand-laid carbon fiber, and incorporated the necessary padding.

This custom-made helmet not only ensured Mr. Muggles’ safety but also gave Blake peace of mind.

The helmet, however, is just a prototype. Blake has plans to create an improved version.

The goal is to provide Mr. Muggles with continued protection, as the open fontanels on his head will never fully close.

This protective gear allows Mr. Muggles more freedom, while Blake can rest easy knowing his companion is safe.

Despite his medical challenges, Mr. Muggles remains blissfully unaware of his condition.

His cheerful demeanor can brighten even the gloomiest of days. For Blake, caring for special needs dogs like Mr. Muggles is a mission.

He believes in giving love, compassion, and care to these “lovable lemons” and “underdogs,” helping them navigate life’s challenges.
