This was the challenge faced by a YouTuber known as rgraves62002, who had a particularly adventurous dog named Stella.
Stella wasn’t just any dog; she was a rescue, found in a dumpster, but with a spirit that couldn’t be contained.
Her love for running, jumping, and playing knew no bounds, prompting her owner to realize the need for a fence to keep her safe at home.
Before erecting the fence, he needed to determine just how high Stella could jump to ensure the barrier would be effective.
After conducting a test with a baby gate and adding an extra six inches to his measurements for good measure, he purchased and installed the fence, proud of his handywork.
Excited to share his accomplishment, he decided to capture the moment on video, planning to showcase his DIY success on social media.
“I literally had just built this fence to keep Stella in the yard and was admiring it,” he shared in the caption of his video, unaware of the turn of events that was about to unfold.
As he filmed, proudly commenting, “Yep, just completed fixing this fence. Pretty proud of it, I’d have to say. Tried to keep Stella in the yard,” the word “tried” would soon take on a whole new meaning.
The camera then captured Stella charging towards the fence with determination.
Stella didn’t hesitate.
She made a beeline for a corner of the fence where the ground was slightly elevated and, with effortless grace, leaped over the barrier her owner had so painstakingly erected.
The moment was met with a resigned “Dangit” from her human, as all his efforts seemed to have been in vain.
Despite the setback, the incident provided a good laugh and a valuable lesson in the unpredictability of pets.
Stella’s daring escape serves as a reminder that sometimes, no matter how well we think we’ve prepared, our pets have plans of their own.
