Man builds cat a bridge to window she always stared at but could never reach
This man undertook a construction project so that his cat could achieve her ultimate goal. And she's about as thankful as a cat is capable of being.

Andrew Brewer really loves his cat, Ellie. And like most cat owners, he wants his feline friend to always be able to live her best life.

But it’s not always that easy, and sometimes what a cat wants is out of reach — quite literally.

For Ellie, it was a window in Brewer’s lofted staircase. She was fascinated by it, but she could only see out of it from several feet away.

“I could tell she wanted to be at it so bad,” he told The Dodo.

Of course, just because something is technically impossible to reach doesn’t mean a cat is going to forget about it. And Ellie got so obsessed with the window that she would sit at the top of the staircase and try to peer out of it. It was as if this one impossible window provided the only view worth having in the whole world.

Now that quarantine has provided many of us with more hours at home (whether we like it or not), people are starting to get creative with their indoor projects. And Brewer is no different.

He decided to make Ellie’s window dreams come true.

The handy and loving cat owner decided to build Ellie a bridge so she could safely traverse the space to the coveted view.

“The build itself wasn’t difficult at all,” Brewer said. “I had the idea in my head, on what I wanted it to look like, and just went with it.”

The end result is far more than just a piece of plywood laying across the gap — it’s quite lovely and blends in perfectly.

He even built his fluffy friend a viewing platform in front of the window so she could nap there.

Ellie now has quite the view — not only through the window but of the entire stairwell.

And she seems to enjoy being up high and looking down over her kingdom.

The bridge was a smashing success and Brewer said the cat now spends hours with her curious little face pressed up against the glass.

“Every time I see her in the window it makes me smile,” he told The Dodo. “It makes me happy knowing she can finally reach that window she’s always wanted to reach.”

While many cats spurn the efforts we make to please them, Ellie was delighted with her “catwalk.”

When Brewer posted the photos to Reddit a little over a week ago, commenters went wild over the idea (although there were, of course, people who insisted it was dangerous).

But the cat dad put all the naysayers in their place — it’s safe and sturdy, it can be vacuumed, and she’s a mellow cat who will come if lured with treats so he doesn’t worry about her using it to run away out of reach.

Most importantly, Ellie loves her bridge. She seems to know it’s all for her and is the reward she so richly deserves.

Could you resist making this sweet face happy?
