The bonds that mothers share with their children is extremely powerful as well as universal – it applies to pretty much all species in nature. In a tragic event, a family’s house was caught in blazes and flames and fire fighters were quickly brought to the scène.
The brave firefighters managed to extinguish all the flames, but it turns out that they had quite a surprise waiting in store for them.
Understandably, firefighters have to do their job on a very strictly and quickly basis, and although they made sure that all people made it out of the house, they overlooked a mother dog along with her children.
The fire occurred in Santa Rose de Temuco, in Chili. Fortunately, none of the family members got severely hurt in the fire, aside from some minor injuries and burns. House owner Omar Torres had to get a check-up at the hospital but wasn’t hurt.
When the inferno had settled, firefighters started to assess the whole situation and headed back to the firetruck. At that moment, one of the firefighters noticed a brave and courageous German Shepard who had risked her own life and well-being to protect her children.
The mother dog, called Amanda, picked up all of her puppies in her mouth and brought them to the safest place she could think of – the fire truck right next to the firefighters.
One by one, Amanda went into the burning house to make sure all of her children were safe. She immediately sensed the danger of the immense flames and let her mother’s instinct do the rest.
While the fire extinguishers were still quite busy with battling the flames, Amanda sat next to the fire truck and her pups when all ten of her children were carried out of the house. After the dogs were spotted, the firefighters immediately brought a vet to the scene to examine all the dogs.
Unfortunately, one of her pups called Amparo passed away due to his severe burns, but Amanda’s heroic efforts saved the lives of his four siblings.
Felipe Lara, the veterinarian on the scène, recalls that Amanda did her best to defend the puppies when the vets wanted to take a closer look at them. Even though Amanda let the vet examine her pups, she made sure never to leave them out of her sight.
Pictures of the rescue were spread on social media, and it was quickly viewed by thousands on the online social platform Reddit.
A true four-legged hero!
