The bond between a mom and her kids isn’t something you want to mess around with! There are few things more powerful or more beautiful that you can witness. Even outside human moms, lots of animal moms show us that same protective and loving behavior that defines “motherhood!”
We all know that you don’t want to get in the way of a mama bear and her cubs!
There are few scarier things than an angry mama bear! They will stop at nothing to make sure their cubs are safe and secure. If you see a bear cub in the forest, you better run! Ultimately, moms in the human and animal kingdom love their little ones, even if the way they do it is different.
One mama dog shows us just how far that motherly love truly goes.
Cora is a sweet dog who was surrendered to the Marin Human Society for no apparent reason. People occasionally drop dogs off with zero reason why. It’s often never a good thing. When Cora was admitted into the shelter, things became a bit clearer.
Cora underwent a medical check-up and something disturbing was found.
While the sweet dog was getting a check-up, the vets discovered that she had recently given birth to a litter of puppies! From what it looked like, Cora gave birth to the litter and her owners wanted the puppies and not her.
The horrible realization explained the strange behavior of Cora.
During her stay at the shelter, Cora was disheartened and depressed looking. With the knowledge that Cora had puppies she loved and was then taken to a strange place, all the pieces fit together. She missed her pups!
The shelter jumped to action – they knew just what to do.
Reaching out to the people who originally dropped her off, they asked after the litter of pups. Their guesses were right. With their suspicions confirmed, they did their best to persuade the owners to reunite the pups with their mom.
“We told them that it was best for the dogs to be nursed by their mother,” says Lisa Bloch of the Marin Humane Society.
After some convincing, they were finally able to get them to bring the little ones to the shelter!
Finally, mom and babies were to be reunited. As a matter of fact, when they arrived at the shelter, they all got special names! Cora was named after a character in the show Downton Abbey (the season finale had recently aired), so the other pups all got similar names! Cora, the mom, and her puppies, Mosley, Branson, Edith, and Carson!
The best part? When Cora saw her babies for the first time.
In a touching moment, Cora gets to see her little ones, and her reaction is absolutely priceless! The timid, scared, and unconfident dog turned into an excited and tail-wagging mom! She looks as happy as can be and even goes to her shelter friend, almost as if saying, “thank you for bringing me my babies!”
There is nothing more that a mom wants than to be with the little ones she loves!
This touching video is a great reminder that love exists in all shapes and forms. Even over time and distance, a mom still loves her babies.
