They say a mother’s instinct is always right, and that’s certainly the case for this story. As a mom, you always know when your baby is sick because something just doesn’t seem quite right.
Naturally, you’d take them to the doctors to get checked out. But what happens when you’re a stray living on the street and your little one is sick?
In Istanbul, Turkey, an incredibly smart cat did just the right thing!
A post shared by Merve Özcan on Twitter shows a mother cat bringing her sick kitten into an Istanbul hospital’s emergency room. It’s clear that something’s wrong. Merve writes:
“Today we were in the emergency room of the hospital when a cat rushed to bring her offspring in her mouth.”
The cat and her baby were instantly surrounded by the medical team who were determined to help the kitten while comforting the mama.
As the kitten is being seen to, her clever mama refuses to leave her side and follows medical staff wherever they go. She’s brought her this far, and she’s not about to leave her baby now!
Whilst the kitten was being checked out, the staff offered the mama some milk and food to reward her for all her hard work. It was important that she remained as relaxed as possible as they examined her baby.
Thankfully, the hospital staff found that the little kitten wasn’t in a life-threatening condition, and they were able to refer her to the vets.
Thanks to this mama’s quick thinking and the kindness of the medical staff, this kitty and her baby will now get the help that they deserve.
Many Twitter users took to the comments to praise the medical staff and the brave mama who seemed to know exactly what to do when her baby was sick. One user wrote:
“The full trust this stray has for humans melts my heart.”
Whilst another praised Turkey for their compassion towards stray animals, saying:
“In Turkey, stray cats and dogs are like everyone’s pet. You see food and water for these friends on the corner of every street. Cats are welcome to sleep and live in Mosques etc. It is a beautiful place for stray animals.”
How lovely — we hope other countries are taking some tips! Someone else simply said:
“Cat knows where to get help. This is heartwarming.”
It seems that Turkey shows a lot of care towards their stray animals, and it’s beautiful to read about. One Reddit user said:
“When I was a student in Istanbul, I took so many stray cats to the vet and I never paid anything. The thing is if the cat clearly needs help, there is no possible way someone wouldn’t pick that cat up. And they will be treated for sure. There is no such thing as putting them down.
We are so thankful for the selfless medical workers in Turkey who took time out of their day to help the kitten. It clearly shows that even in these difficult times, the world is never short of love and care.
