Dogs love to chase things, especially when they think that they feel like their home is being intruded upon. Once they hear even a rustling sound in the yard or someone’s unfamiliar voice, they get super excited. That explains why some dogs love chasing stray cats, squirrels, and most especially mailmen.
Dogs and mailmen have a complicated relationship.
Dogs have always thought of mailmen as suspicious people, making them agitated whenever they come near their home.
Moreover, they become extra cautious when the mailman suddenly pulls a package out of nowhere, and the barks start from there. If these dogs get the chance to escape from the door, or their leashes, they might just chase the mailman away.
However, these things do not always happen.
There are also instances where a mailman could become friends with the dogs, especially when he or she frequently delivers packages at the same house or neighborhood. Frequent interaction with the dogs would eventually build trust within each other until they could finally greet each other like close friends.
The same could be said with this certain mailman caught on camera.
This mailman had no idea that the house’s owner put up a camera that shows the entire front yard.
When he went to drop a package at the front door, he took some time oddly standing still as if he was waiting for something. After a few seconds, you’ll know what he was waiting for – the little guard dogs.
Instead of showing up aggressively, these adorable tiny dogs came marching happily at the man and took turns with the petting. Despite the fact that the footage has no sound, you can tell how the man was talking to them. The man even lets the dogs kiss him on the cheeks. It took almost a minute for him to finish playing with the dogs until he left to proceed to his next destination.
You could see how happy both parties are with the interaction.
You’d see the moment where the man had a sudden burst of happiness after seeing the adorable dogs run towards him.
That man must have been a regular mailman at the area, explaining how he got those dogs to trust him. On the other hand, the pooches were so delighted with their visitor that they excitedly hopped to reach his face.
Moreover, you can tell that he’s a dog lover himself. No person would let another dog lick them on the face if they don’t love dogs. The mailman sure did leave the place with a big smile on his face.

Reddit user MJNau decided to share the clip on the subreddit for pets and their wholesome moments, “aww.” Plenty of users shared their own thoughts about it. One Redditor wrote:
“Honestly this is what I’m like whenever I’m around a dog and it’s true, it just feels really good to have anyone that excited about your company.”
It’s not impossible to make your dogs become friendly with your local mailmen.
Dogs are good at being sociable, and you can encourage them to become friendly with people, especially those who they often meet like your local mailman or garbage collectors.
It’s much better if they greet their visitors with a gentle smile so that they’d feel relaxed instead of being anxious. Afterward, if you see that they’ve done a good job, you could reward your dogs with praises and yummy treats.
