Meet Douglas Roberto and Jurandir, two Brazilian cats with a highly entertaining social media presence.

As the COVID-19 pandemic rages through their country, their family has been spending a lot more time inside.

This includes their human sister Clarinha, who is now doing her school lessons at home to stay safe.

But Clarinha isn’t just a student. In fact, she’s a budding teacher. And she doesn’t discriminate when it comes to who (or what) she will bestow her educational prowess upon.

And as you might have guessed, her two favorite students are Douglas Roberto and Jurandir.

Back in May, Clarinha put together a lesson plan for her purring pupils and she went straight for the most difficult skill set – drawing. That’s ambitious!

In a now-viral video, the little girl teaches her two amazingly patient and attentive cats how to draw a flower.

Or at least she tries.

And it’s so cute that the short clip has been viewed on the original Facebook page 25 million times so far – and millions more on other social media platforms.

Now, it appears that Douglas Roberto and Jurandir long-ago mastered the skill of sitting like a human.

But art?

The lack of thumbs means that these two students can’t really grasp their lesson – pun intended!

Douglas Roberto and Jurandir seem to be wondering what the goal is here while the teacher is not looking.

But whenever she turns around, they’re paying rapt attention.

Clarinha doesn’t seem concerned that the cats aren’t trying to follow her lead and make a go of it with the pencils she’s laid out for them. So perhaps there’s some quiet work time scheduled into the lesson plan later when they can try out what they’ve learned.

But while the lesson (or our view of it) lasts less than a minute, the cats do eventually get very distracted while their teacher isn’t looking.

In the end, she catches their attention wandering, though it’s not clear if a detention was in order afterward for their insolence.

These amazingly patient cats have been home-schooled before. In fact, this seems to be one of Clarinha’s favorite activities.

They’ve had math lessons – though it seems they will need more if this photo is anything to go by:

And they’re even expected to learn an instrument.

It’s a pretty well-rounded education for a feline.

The cats are both avid readers as well – or maybe they realize holding a book is a great way to get people to leave you alone.

Of course, if the felines had it their way, people would just leave them alone and let them scroll on their phones in peace.

But just as parents and teachers alike are eager to get students back into the classroom, Douglas Roberto and Jurandir are keen to get back to normal.

Mixing school and home life just isn’t ideal.

It appears, however, that their drawing skills are improving, despite the lack of thumbs.

Their full liberal arts education seems to be coming along nicely.

It appears that their STEM education is managed by someone other than Clarinha, but there’s no doubt she’s created the foundation for the cats to become life-long learners.

(And it looks like someone managed to grasp a writing implement!)
