How does it feel like to be raised by “wolves?”

In one popular myth, two boys named Romulus and Remus, rode the currents of the Tiber River until they were found by a she-wolf.

It’s a different experience for kids who are raised by wolves. For some, it ends with the founding of an empire. For others, it’s a story of acceptance and love that stands as a testament to the bond of man and beast.

River was supposed to be an only child.

But when her parents brought her home, they also took it as a chance to introduce the baby to her eager siblings.

The German shepherds crowded by their gate as their humans approached with the baby. One by one, they took turns sniffing and investigating the newest member of their family.

A few months later, River became one with the pack.

All of the family’s dogs served as different kinds of companions to the baby. There’s Koba the watcher, who has always been gentle and quiet.

There’s Kai who’s always up to no good but well-behaved around River.

There’s Breena, the sweet older sister.

There’s Meeka, who always kept her distance. She’s that one friend who doesn’t like kids.

Finally, there’s Ryker, who’s always curious and playful around River. You can say that among the five, she is River’s favorite.

River became so close to the dogs that she thought she was one of them.

During playtime or long walks, River would go on all fours and walk like the rest of the pack. She also dawdles and plays in their water bowl.

There are times that she even eats dog treats just to see why her siblings are enjoying those so much.

Because of her early affinity for dogs, River has grown accustomed to being around them.

Her parents even shared with The Dodo that whenever they go to a friend’s or relative’s house, River always looked for the dogs.

She’s just so comfortable with the animals that the dogs became so accepting of her. Or maybe because she breaks them out of their crates so often, but we’ll never know.

River’s parents acknowledged the importance of letting a baby grow up with animals.

While it is not as apparent, children get to learn more about kindness, gentleness, and empathy. She will also get to grow up with a stronger appreciation for other living things.

“It’s amazing to see, you know, they’re going to be her best friends growing up,” her mother said in the video by The Dodo.

People shared their thoughts on River and her siblings.

“”We never leave her alone with the dogs,” wise words, even if they are German Shepherds, baby safety is always first and you always got to remember that dogs are dogs, and in a pack can be even more doggish,” one commenter said, “Love also mom admits she has a grumpy senior dog that not every dog gets along with kids.

“What a wonderful way to grow up like this,” said another, “We’ve also always have dogs or at least one. People with a passion for animals are (usually) conscious people with care for the environment and respect for nature.”
