One sunny spring morning, a man named Corey heard some strange noise outside his door. He opened the door and found the most adorable little visitor.

It was a young fawn who was looking up at Corey with curiosity.

Corey is from Maple Ridge, British Columbia, so it’s not uncommon to find the local wildlife here and there.

And if you watch and listen to how Corey interacts with the little deer, you can tell he’s used to it.

He describes part of his encounter, saying:

“I was inside and heard a peculiar noise, finally I opened the door I must admit it took my by surprise… Two were born the day before so this little fawn was about 28 hours old… When they were being born Mom knew we were there and the newborns saw and smelled us when they were learning to stand up.. I guess baby was comfortable with us.. When mom went away the Fawn, I guess, went to the only other animal it knew.”

Just look at how cute this fawn is! It utters little bleating sounds with eyes that would have you wanting to hug the adorable baby. Not that I’m suggesting you do so.

Those white spots are a newborn fashion statement. It helps the fawn to blend in with their surroundings since they are still so vulnerable.

Those spots will disappear when they mature. Within half an hour of being born, they can walk.

Fawns don’t have a scent, so predators cannot detect them. That’s probably how this little deer was able to walk up Corey’s porch.

Corey speaks to the fawn in the same way we speak to kittens and puppies.

And just like all of us, he swears the fawn understands him. The little deer responds to Corey’s voice with the sweetest bleats. Hello, neighbor!

Mothers usually leave to feed without the fawn to avoid leading predators to their young.

They return at dawn or dusk to feed or move them and it’s not at all weird for moms to leave their little ones in backyards. The way this fawn looks up at Corey is too cute!

Cute as they are, people are advised to not lead them to other places or to take them elsewhere. They’re just waiting for mommy to come back.

Corey did the right thing here. He just had to interact with his enchanting visitor.

When Corey starts to leave, the fawn lets out a loud cry, like he’s telling Corey not to go. And it would certainly be hard to shut the door on such an adorable visitor. Still, we’re glad Corey left the fawn where he was so his mom can easily find him.

To make this story even more adorable, about a year after the initial video was shot, the fawn came back — except now, it was all grown up.

Corey and the fawn are a sweet pair, and it’s wonderful that the deer remembers Corey.
