All pet owners will agree that it is hard to maintain an orderly household while trying to keep your pets entertained and happy. And if one pet is already a handful, imagine having two or more! That’s practically a riot in the house!
The next photos you’re going to see totally sums up a life with multiple animal friends in the family. It is messy, chaotic and disorderly, but definitely, it is a lot of fun!
1. It’s a puppy party
No really, it’s a puppy birthday party. This group of elderly rescue dogs has their own Instagram account and came together to wish Enoch the dog a happy 9th birthday.
2. One of these things doesn’t belong
It’s morning and that means it’s time to feed the dogs. Well, if you’re in this household, it’s time to feed the dogs and the pig. Yes, that’s a full-sized potbelly pig.
3. When you’re the only dog in a house of cats
Poor Lucy found herself stuck in the middle of two cats. She suddenly realized she was in the territory of a rival gang…completely surrounded by a bunch of furry animals.
4. …or the only cat in a house of dogs
Introducing pets can be a challenge since you never know how they’ll react to one another. This family didn’t have to worry. All the animals instantly became nap buddies.
5. Well, that’s not something you see every day
When most of us talk about our pets, we’re referring to cats and dogs — perhaps something like a hamster or a fish. We’re usually not talking about a prairie dog. At least he and the cat get along well.
6. Just one of the dogs
How does a blind cat know exactly how the dogs are sitting and how to copy them? Well, maybe the cat started it and they’re copying him. Talk about a bunch of couch lizards.
7. Don’t step on the baby
Lots of households have cats, dogs, rodents, fish, reptiles, and even birds. But you don’t often see a pet capybara — especially not one that’s playing with a kitten.
8. It’s nice of the cat to let them use her bed
You might think that’s the dog bed since it’s the perfect size for, well, dogs. But trust us, if the cat’s lying on it, that means it’s her bed and her bed alone. She’s just sharing it for a moment.
9. GET OUT HERE
After a lot of training, these pets learned to never go into their owner’s bedroom. But that doesn’t stop them from getting as close as they possibly can, especially when it’s time for breakfast.
10. Spot the cat
Do you see the cat in the mix? The dogs are happy to pose for a quick photo, but the feline seems a bit camera-shy. Either that or she’s just not willing to get any closer to the canines.
11. I just want to eat
Sure, what’s another pet you might say. The more the merrier. Then before you know it, every meal is a battle zone and you never have a moment’s peace. But darn it if you don’t love the little jerks.
12. Who needs a blanket when you have cats?
Well, I guess he won’t be getting up for a while. When not one but three cats decide to snuggle with you, bank on being there as long as they want you to be.
13. Buy one, get half a dozen free
Be careful when you take in a stray, especially if it’s a female. You might very well adopt one cat only to find out a few weeks later that you’re now the proud owner of many furry critters.
14. We know you’re in there
Forget about trying to go to the bathroom in peace when you have pets. You can be sure they’re waiting right outside the door. This goes double if they’re waiting for a meal.
15. Everyone needs a mega bed
When you have five cats and two dogs that all like to sleep with you, you need to come up with an innovative plan. The solution is obviously to build a gigantic bed with room enough for everybody.
16. They’re a pretty exclusive club
When you have five dogs, each of them will have a distinct personality and manner of communicating. But no matter how different they are, they think of themselves as part of an exclusive club.
17. Does anyone hear snapping?
Okay, they don’t have opposable thumbs, so technically they can’t snap. But you can bet if they could, they would. Who knew kittens could be so scary?
18. WAKE UP AND FEED US
When you sleep late on a weekend, it’s probably no big deal. Unless you have four cats. In that case, you’ll be woken up by four very angry alarms.
19. Happy Halloween
If you have cats, they’ll always let you know when a bug gets inside the house. They love to hunt the little things. Apparently, that also applies to fake bugs, like Halloween decorations.
20. They might not like each other, but they like the human
Sometimes, all it takes to bring pets together is the love they share for their humans. Sure, they might not be best friends, but they’ll still snuggle together as long as Mom is there.
21. “GET IT OUT”
Trying to transition two pets into the same home can be a challenge. This cat doesn’t seem to be taking to the new puppy very well. With time, I’m sure they’ll be best friends.
22. When Mom walks into the room
Just like with siblings, all bets are off when pets are alone. They might get into fights, torture each other, or chase one another around the house. It’s pretty hilarious to see these two realize they’re being watched by their owner.
23. Who knew a cat could make this face?
While cats can’t talk, they do manage to communicate their feelings pretty well all the same. This cat couldn’t be clearer about her feelings concerning affection between humans and dogs.
24. Can I interest you in a truck full of puppies?
If there’s anything that’ll improve your day, it’s a truck bed full of adorable Golden Retriever puppies. But for their owner, that’s what every day looks like. Talk about an instant cure for depression.
25. Dr. Kitty is on the case
When his puppy friend was feeling under the weather, this cat wasn’t about to let him suffer alone. He spent all his time licking and cuddling him to make sure he felt better.
26. They don’t trust it
With a new puppy in the house, the cats aren’t sure what they think yet. Sure, he might be cute, but they’re going to keep their distance until they know what’s going on with this smelly, drooling little baby.
27. As long as everyone’s okay with it
It might not look very comfortable to you, but I say as long as everyone’s happy, just roll with it. And of course, snap an adorable photo so you can show everyone your cute pets.
28. No comment needed
When the cat stole his bed, the pug wasn’t happy about it at all. He might not be able to talk, but he doesn’t need to in order to get his feelings across — at least in this instance.
29. What a jerk move
Talking about kicking someone when they’re down. The poor dog is already suffering the indignity of wearing the cone of shame. Do you really have to walk all over him?
30. Someone help the poor fellow
The dog might not be a genius, but he knows better than to challenge the cat who stole his bed. The poor guy got kicked off his property by a fluffy thief.
31. “This is close enough for now”
The key to introducing pets to one another is going gradually. Just a little bit of exposure at a time to make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe. These two are in the “look but don’t touch” stage.
32. I think this is true love
Cats and dogs are said to be natural enemies, but these two might just prove that wrong. The look of pure love between them is enough to melt a heart of stone.
33. Big spoon, little spoon
Who said dogs and cats can’t get along? These two are so close they even feel comfortable sleeping together. Clearly, they consider themselves snuggle buddies.
34. Someone’s feeling salty
When a new puppy joined the house, the cat didn’t feel comfortable being close by. But he still found a way to express his feelings from a distance — quite clearly, in fact.
35. The cat’s still skeptical
They say everyone falls in love in their own time. Clearly, this dog’s already taken the kitty into his heart. The cat…well, let’s just say she isn’t sure about her feelings quite yet.
36. I guess that went well
It’s hard to gauge how well a pet introduction went, but there are a couple of clues. For example, if your puppy jumps up and starts giving your cat kisses, you can call it a success.
37. “Are we really keeping it?”
Talk about a cold welcome — these two aren’t happy about sharing the same home. It’s all a part of the journey, but it can be pretty hard. Hopefully, they’ll eventually warm up to one another and become pals.
38. “Give me your lunch money”
Just like the relationships siblings have, pet relationships can have different dynamics. Some are silly, some are loving, and some are tense. Take this cat for example who knows how to bully.
39. What do you get when you combine two golden retrievers with a hamster and eight birds?
Meet Bob and Marley, the two Golden Retrievers with their own Instagram page. Why? Because they just happen to live with a huge menagerie of animals, including eight birds and a hamster.
40. This is quite the family portrait
Look closely and you’ll see all kinds of faces in this crowd. Not only are there several dogs, but also, a potbellied pig and a rabbit. This takes the term “blended family” to a new level.
41. “The human needs our help”
Nothing brings animals together like helping the human they love. When these pets sensed their sick owner was having a hard day, they all rushed over to give her a snuggle. That’s some pretty sweet teamwork.
42. Thanksgiving is a little different in this house
When you have a pet turkey in the house, Thanksgiving looks a little different. Appropriately, this turkey’s name is Tofu. He’s just one among a huge assortment of animals.
43. The transition was a rough one
This poor dog has absolute terror written across his face. You would too if you’d been cornered by three territorial felines. They clearly take ownership of their cat tree very seriously.
