Do you have a cat? If you own one, then you probably are used to your feline friend always sleeping off almost the whole day.

They seldom go out for a run like dogs. They love to play but easily get bored and would always prefer a nap over practically anything else, except maybe when it’s food that they are busy about.

While most cats are lazy enough to just sleep in the nearest couch or kitchen counter, one kitty is lucky enough to find a horse who is willing to let him snooze on his back.

This cat is no other than 2-year-old Max from Northland, New Zealand and he’s having the time of his life!

As it turns out, Max lives on a farm where horses are being raised and bred. The family also rear mini horses. One of them is Marley, a 3-year-old “unbroken” horse who loves to chill out with Max.

The two of them have a really special bond and it certainly shows on the way they comfortably hang out with each other.

In a YouTube video uploaded via channel ViralHog, the sweet and relaxed moment shared by both Max and Marley was all caught on camera and shared with the world.

The kitty is utterly at ease, his furry arms splayed out on the pony’s back. He’s in ultra-relaxed mode while enjoying the warm sunshine and riding on Marley. What a lucky kitty!

The video’s caption fondly shares the amazing bond between cat and horse.

“Here’s our 2-year-old cat Max chilling out on our 3-year-old ‘unbroken’ mini horse Marley. They share a special bond. Marley and the colored mini horse in the background Aimee are baby unicorns in training. They were rescued as unwanted neglected babies. I have years of horse training experience and could see the bond between cat and horse. So I thought what better 1st rider. Max meows each morning, not so much for food, but to see the ponies.”

Unlike dogs, cats are much less active and won’t really be eager to play fetch all the time. On average, cats sleep for around 13 to 16 hours a day. One possible reason for their love for sleeping would also have to do with their boredom due to little stimulation from others in their surroundings.

Much like their larger feline relatives, cats are also accustomed to being more active at night rather than in the day. When the sun is up, cats tend to sleep more than when they snooze off when the sun has already set.

In an article written by Michelle Rivera, the executive director of her own non-profit organization Animals 101, Inc., she mentioned how sleeping is part of being a cat, not because they want to be lazy.

“Cats will sleep 85 percent of their day away. Only 40 percent of that is regular sleep, while 15 percent is spent in deep slumber. The rest of the time is spent in resting or just hanging out. You see your cat spending so much time catching zzzzz’s you begin to think he’s lazy, but he’s really just being a cat.”

You see, cats are just being themselves and sleeping off much of their daytime simply because it’s part of who they are. So, the next time you see your cat dozing off, you might want to give them some slack.

They’re too cute to watch anyway, just like Max here.
