Large dog refuses to get in kennel his own size making owner almost pee her pants from laughter
There was a small crate and a large crate. Naturally, Denver the German Shepherd fits best in the large crate but that's not the crate he chose to squeeze into. 🤣

One Size Fits All

Animals are our goofy companions. There is almost never a dull moment whenever the fur babies start acting a fool in random moments throughout the day. From reaching into high places or even searching in low spots, our pets will do anything to try and seek out our attention in any way, shape, or form.

Speaking about shapeshifting, a 6-year-old dog named Denver decided to indirectly steal our hearts when he attempted to get inside his cage. Denver shares a home with other smaller dogs who each have their own set of household amenities. One good perk is that each dog has their own kennel since of course, all cages have to account for the dog’s particular size.

That didn’t stop Denver from stealing the spotlight

The handler was ready to train her younger 2-year-old named Hagen and her 10-week old puppy Lorcan to trust going inside a kennel. The training involved going inside their cage while it was mounted on the back of the handler’s vehicle. This suggests that the pups have already gone through initial kennel training and are now ready to put a little energy into it.

When the handler gave the command, Denver leaped into the kennel, but chose the wrong one! It wasn’t his fault that he was given choices. After all, dogs decide what to do based on motivation and it looks like he was motivated to go for a smaller fit. Why in the world he would decide that we might never know.

What we do know is that positive reinforcement is everything for a curious dog.

They quickly pick up on cues especially when those cues lead to a tasty reward. We can tell Denver has had a lot of positive association with that kennel and so that may be why he was ready to hop inside without a second thought.

The adorable doggo laid proud inside his kennel despite his body inadequately contorting. That’s the face of confidence right there. Denver was owning his decision and brushed off his handler’s laugh at the whole thing. Nothing seemed to bother him since he was right where he needed to be in his happy spot.

Kennel training is an important part of initial puppy training.

It’s a way to let your dog feel comfortable in their surroundings by having a place to go where they can feel protected and safe. In addition, kennel training provides just enough space to allow your dogs to safely go to sleep and practice holding in their bladder.

To train a dog to enjoy his cage, you must establish a positive association with the cage at every chance you get. Give treats often and even attempt to feed food by placing the bowl inside the kennel if possible. Instruct your dog to go inside at random times during the day so that he/she does not associate the kennel as a place to go after bad behavior.

Denver is a stud for being such a happy-go-lucky pooch. His decision may have been funny to his human companions, but for a dog looking for his comfy spot, this was no laughing matter for the stoic fella.
