Kids will literally talk to anything or anybody. When they are first developing their language skills, any practice is good practice, right? In the beginning, it’s just jibberish.

As they get better, they actually start to form syllables and familiar sounds! Soon later, they are off to college, and your baby is grown (jk, that was a huge leap).

In the meantime, your baby will be making lots of hilarious little noises.

If we are lucky as parents, we get to witness these talkative moments!

As we mentioned before, those moments may be with you, a wall, or even the house pet! One little boy was caught on camera having a full-on conversation with his pet cat, and it is adorable!

A couple put their kid down to sleep in Pickerington, Ohio, and they never expected to have such a hilarious story.

Their little boy is 18-months-old and is in that amazing stage of life where everything comes alive. Nobody is a stranger, everyone is a potential friend, and the gift of language is just starting to rear its cute head. After the couple put him down to sleep, they left the room.

Thankfully, they have a baby monitor that can record video, even in the dark.

“We had just put our 18-month-old son down to sleep for the night, and shut the door to his room, or so we thought. Our cat pushed the door open to say ‘goodnight’ as well.”

As soon as they left, the cat walked in!

She wanted some attention from the little guy and was happy to talk to him for as long as he wanted.

She starts meowing at him in the crib, and he meows right back. She then jumps on the chair to get closer to him so they can continue their “conversation.”

After the conversation continued, the boy stood up and started engaging with the cat more!

This seemed like the perfect time to start speaking “cat”! He didn’t mind that they couldn’t understand each other, he was just happy to have a friend during bedtime. Anything to avoid going to sleep, right?

Finally, after some deep and intellectual conversation, it was time for the boy to go to bed.

His parents recounted in the video description:

“He stands up to get closer to her, too. We had no idea this was happening until our baby monitor altered us of the noise. We then had to remove the cat from his nursery so he could finally go to sleep without any distractions.”

He just has a friend who loves to say goodnight and talk with him! Animals and kids have a special connection that is so apparent sometimes. Maybe it’s their mutual innocence or even a kid’s lack of preconceived notions of the role of a pet. Regardless, this video is as cute as they come.

Cats love to talk back to us, by the way!

When cats encounter each other, they rarely use typical meowing sounds to communicate. Towards humans, on the other hand, cats are generous with their vocalizations. They use their voice to tell us what they want, how they feel and just to say “Hello, good to see you!” – Science Norway

Cats have a special meowing relationship with humans! Consider yourself special.
