In February 2018, rescuers found two stray kitten brothers hiding under a house in Melbourne, Australia. They pulled the kittens out, and they were shocked to see that one of the kittens had four ears and a deformed right eye.

Rescuers brought the brothers to Geelong Animal Welfare Society. Then, they rushed the kitten with four ears into surgery and removed his eye.

Everyone in the shelter was curious about this unique cat, and many of the workers and volunteers went to see him after his surgery. While everyone loved the little kitten, one woman fell especially hard for him: Georgia Anderson.

Anderson, a volunteer at the shelter, spent some time sitting with the kitten after his surgery. She was amazed by how sweet he was:

“He would have been in a lot of pain, but the first thing he did when I picked him up was purr and rub his face on mine,” Anderson told The Dodo. “I told the girls in the vet clinic that I would foster him for recovery after his eye removal.”

Once the kitten had recovered, Anderson took him home and nicknamed him Frankenkitten because of the prominent stitches on his face. She started calling him Frankie for short, and the name stuck!

Anderson planned to just foster Frankie, but she quickly realized she didn’t want to give him up. He was so affectionate with her, and he also got along well with her three other cats and her Beagle.

After the shelter’s required eight-day holding period was up, Anderson officially adopted Frankie!

Frankie quickly settled into life at Anderson’s house, and he doesn’t let his differences stop him from enjoying life.

“None of this seems to affect his playing, as he is constantly tearing around the house,” Anderson noted. “At the moment, he is zooming around the house with three kittens I’m fostering. He loves rough-and-tumble play.”

Frankie is now all grown up and enjoying life just as much as he did when he was a kitten.

Frankie spends his days running around the house, playing with Anderson’s other animals. Anderson made Frankie his own eyepatch, but he usually shrugs it off. The strong-willed cat knows just what he wants!

Frankie has had a few other health issues, including some issues with his teeth. But he takes it all in stride—as long as he’s with his mom and his furry siblings, he’s happy!

“I’ve probably fostered around 80 cats and kittens in the last year, and he was the first one that I knew I would regret giving back,” Anderson said.
