Sydney, Australia resident Chloe Sargent was working from home one day when her cat Kitty Pryde started meowing nonstop.
Chloe watched the cat, concerned. She’d never seen her act so distressed before. Kitty jumped up on the living room window ledge and kept meowing. Chloe walked over to the window, hoping she could figure out why Kitty was so upset.
When Chloe looked out the window, she saw the tiniest white kitten trapped on top of a high stairwell at the back of the neighboring apartment building.
The scared kitten clearly didn’t know how to get down, and she meowed as loud as she could, hoping to get someone’s attention. Chloe ran out the door and over to the building. She knocked on all the doors in the building, but no one was home.
The kitten was still meowing fearfully, and so Chloe walked through the open side gate, hoping that her trespassing would be forgiven since it was for a good cause. Chloe called out to the kitten, but she didn’t seem to hear her.
Since the kitten wasn’t coming down, Chloe knew she had to rescue the little cat herself. She described what happened next on her Twitter page:
After the kitten had calmed down a bit, Chloe started walking to her local veterinarian. As she was walking, she spotted a lost cat sign.
The sign said, ‘Lost: tiny white cat. please return her, she’s very special.’ There was a number listed below that, and Chloe quickly called it. The relieved man on the other end said he would come meet Chloe right away. As Chloe waited for the kitten’s owner, she pet the little animal. The kitten purred gently—she was so happy to be in a safe spot.
A few minutes later, the kitten’s owner appeared. He was so happy to see his kitten, he almost burst into tears.
The man told Chloe the kitten was named Mimsy, and she was deaf. The man explained that he was also hearing impaired, which was why he had fallen in love with Mimsy. He had just gotten the kitten a few days ago, and that morning, he had taken her out to use the bathroom. He looked away for just one second, and she was gone.
The man was grateful to Chloe for finding his beloved kitten, and Chloe was so happy she reunited the cat with her loving owner. Chloe asked if she could visit Mimsy sometimes, and the owner quickly said yes.
Chloe and Mimsy’s owner exchanged numbers, Chloe gave Mimsy a kiss goodbye, and they parted ways. Chloe went home and gave Kitty Pryde tons of snuggles to thank her for saving the little kitten.
After reading Chloe’s story, one Twitter user asked why Mimsy’s owner wasn’t using a litterbox, and Chloe explained why.
Kitty Pryde and Chloe both did an amazing job rescuing little Mimsy. Thanks to their kind actions, Mimsy is back with her loving owner where she belongs!
