Cats and babies are cute in all angles of a picture. They can make anyone smile in awe like the sight of them instantly gives anyone a daily dose of happiness.
After all, how can you resist their sweet little smiles?
Lucky are those people who have cats or babies, luckier are those who have both. But the luckiest of all are those who have both in one. We are talking about those cute little kittens.
Little paws and short whiskers.
These are just among the many things that we adore with kittens. However, everything good in them can even go tenfolds higher with their simple little movements.
The kitten in this video could be the best example of that.
In a YouTube clip posted by RM Videos on their channel, a ginger kitten’s sleepy head can be seen resting on a person’s palm.
That scene alone is already melting but the tiny feline is also doing something that’s commonly done by human babies.
The innocent young cat is suckling its thumb!
Have you ever seen one before? You’re sure lucky if you already have but for those who haven’t seen one yet, this is your chance to see it up-close.
The 31 seconds long video features nothing but the purity and rawness of the little kitten.
It’s absolutely having the early good times of his life by having a naptime all the while having gentle rubs on his head.
It’s without a doubt a beautifully innocent video. You will even hear a couple of suckling sounds at the latter part of it. It’s quiet and peaceful, a video that’s worth watching even a hundred times.
It’s similar to what a human baby does.
As we all know, human babies also suckle their thumbs for some good reasons. It’s a norm for the young ones and it’s almost safe to say that a lot (if not all) of babies do it. Do you also remember doing it when you were young?
It’s not mentioned in the video if the kitten is with the rest of his family including its mama cat.
In fact, family is one factor in why a kitten suckles.
According to the website Cuteness.com:
“The most common cause of suckling in cats is early separation from their mothers and littermates. Kittens should stay with their mothers until they reach around 12 weeks of age — not 8 weeks, a common separation age for puppies. If they are separated earlier than 12 weeks, they can develop compulsive behaviors, including suckling, later in life…”
It’s a different story though if an adult cat suckles.
“Your adult cat is most prone to exhibiting suckling behaviors if she’s under stress; she suckles to cope with it. It’s not the same as compulsive suckling, necessarily. If your kitty’s suckling isn’t interfering with her daily activities or yours, no harm will come from letting her indulge in this behavior occasionally.”
It will make a whole lot of sense if the kitten is no longer living with his mom.
Thankfully, he is safe and sound with a very loving owner who enjoys filming him while suckling. There’s no better place in the world for him other than the warm palm of his gentle owner.
A YouTube user who saw the video couldn’t get enough of the kitten’s cuteness.
“What a precious little maaan πππ» It would take everything in me not to kiss that tiny little paw! πΎππππ”
