K9 units have been a tremendous help in law enforcement agencies, not to mention during search and rescue purposes as well.
These dogs are trained to perfection.
From recovering stashed contraband in a concealed place, to sniffing out drugs and other illegal substances.
But they can sniff out plenty more than this.
One K9 in Wyandotte Police Department has gone viral.
Not for his heroic acts, mind you, but rather because he was accused of stealing from his fellow officer.
A silly situation that has gone viral over social media.
Sniffing out the lunch nabber.
An officer was eating his sandwich in their break room when suddenly he was called to assist a person in jail.
He returned to the break room just moments later on to find that something was irritatingly amiss.
His lunch was gone.
A full investigation took place soon after.
The prime suspect? K9 Officer Ice.
In a Facebook post on the Police Department’s page, they posted a mugshot of a confused-looking Ice.
Clearly, he’s shocked at the accusations against him.
The hilarious post has gone viral with more than 10 thousand shares and reactions.
The post stated:
“Stealing is not only a crime but it is morally wrong too. Some jobs, like that of being a police officer, require you to take an oath prior to starting. Within the officer’s sworn oath is the promise to protect a person’s property.”
This was posted alongside Ice’s mugshot.
Additionally, the post also read, “He has a history of rummaging through trash cans that are within his reach. There have been several other accusations of him taking food right from coworker’s hands as they walk by,” and that the “WPD will consider our Facebook follower’s opinions on how to proceed with this investigation.”
Netizens came to Ice’s rescue.
Dozens of attorneys have offered their services to defend the lovable K9. They said the service will be pro-“bone”-o (pun intended).
The overall public does not believe that Ice was guilty and that there was no evidence or video produced.
The PD couldn’t take the “heat”.
In another follow-up post, the Wyandotte Police Department jokingly stated that massive protests have been threatened if they move forward with the investigation or press charges against Ice.
“Officer Ice will not face any internal discipline or criminal charges” the post concluded.
However, for Officer Cade Barwig, whose sandwich was taken without his permission, justice may never be served. But he did mention that he forgives Ice.
After all, the man’s best friend has lots of good deeds he’s doing in their community.
Officer Barwig added, “He deserves a sandwich, maybe not my sandwich, but maybe a sandwich.”
