If you’ve ever met a Bernese mountain dog, you’ll be forgiven for finding them quite intimidating due to their sheer size.

Although it’s true that they make excellent watchdogs, two viral videos are proving that, beneath all that fluff, Bernese mountain dogs are adorable goofballs.

Everyone who watched the Irish president speak was mesmerized. But not by his speech.

Ireland’s president, Michael D. Higgins, was paying tribute to the late actor Tom Hickey in an interview with Irish broadcaster RTÉ, when his dog, Misneach, made a brief cameo appearance in the shot.

The president later shared the full behind-the-scenes video on Instagram and TikTok.

The adorable dog’s antics stole the hearts of half a million viewers in less than a day.

The playful pup completely stole the limelight when he playfully nibbled the president’s hand and constantly demanded attention by pawing at Higgins’ leg while he gave his speech.

People just couldn’t get enough of the now-viral clip – and who could blame them? This fluffball has a cute factor of 10!

But it’s not the first time one of the Irish president’s dogs has been the center of everyone’s attention.

Bród finally sees his beloved owner, who is seated with his wife Sabina on the opposite side of the room. Bród sits at the president’s feet – wiggling with excitement – and looks up at him lovingly with his puppy eyes.

The special bond these two share is enough to melt anyone’s heart.

He rolls over to expose his fluffy belly and begs for tummy tickles. Everyone in the room swoons.

Higgins has had Bernese mountain dogs for his entire presidency, and Ireland has fallen in love with them over the years – Instagram followers are always excited to catch a glimpse of the presidential dogs.

‘Such a genuine and natural relationship between the two of them,’ one follower wrote.

Bernese mountain dogs were originally bred in Switzerland to pull carts and herd cattle. They love company – which is why Misneach and Bród accompany the Irish president almost wherever he goes.

These gentle giants can weigh up to 120 lbs, but they are just playful puppies at heart.
