In October 2018, the Edmonton Humane Society received three gentle giants named Goliath, Gunther, and Gasket.

The five-year-old pups are all brothers, and they love each other more than anything in the world. When the pups arrived at the shelter, they were a little underweight, but otherwise completely healthy.

The Humane Society was shocked when they realized how bonded the brothers are.

Whenever the dogs were separated, they would constantly look around for their brothers. They would pant nervously and pace, showing all the classic signs of anxiety.

The Humane Society isn’t sure where they came from or how they ended up in a shelter, but they knew one thing for sure: they need to be in a home together.

“These three gentle giants have won over the hearts of staff and volunteers – even with the excessive drool,” said Jamey Blair, Manager of Animal Health & Protection at EHS, in a press release. “While their status as bonded pets creates a unique challenge to find a home that can care for all 350 pounds of them, we are confident that there is a family out there who will give these three dogs their second chance.”

The Edmonton Humane Society knew finding a home for the three dogs would be tough. The dogs weigh a combined 350 pounds, they eat about $300 worth of food a month, and they need lots of space to run and play. Even though the Humane Society knew it would be tough, they were determined to find the dogs a forever home together.

Canada’s CTV News decided to run a story about the dogs. It quickly went viral, and the humane society soon received hundreds of applications for the Saint Bernards.

The shelter received applications from families who lived all over Canada, the United States, and even Australia! The Humane Society received so many applications, they eventually had to stop accepting them. In the end, the shelter decided to go with a family who lived close to Edmonton in order to minimize the dogs’ stress.

After going through all the applications, the Humane Society found the perfect forever home for Goliath, Gasket, and Gunther. They were going to live with a family in nearby Calgary.

“We are beyond excited to be giving these three dogs their forever home,” the family said in an EHS press release. “When we found out that we were getting the opportunity to meet them, we cried tears of joy.”

The three dogs have now settled into their new home, and they’re doing great.

They love having a big yard to play in, and they also enjoy cuddling with their parents and their two human siblings. The pups are so happy to be together in their new home.
