If you have ever owned a cat, you know that they have a mind of their own and they do whatever they want.

Cats are pretty bossy, and they don’t care who you are or how big you are – they always get their way. One cat has decided that he is now a sheep. He doesn’t care what anyone says; that’s just the way it is.

Steve was an indoor cat for the first eight months of his life.

It wasn’t a bad life. He had run of the house and could spend his days napping on the couch or watching birds out the window. The only real problem was that he got lonely. His human companions weren’t always home, and sometimes a cat just needs another animal pal.

When the weather dropped to freezing temperatures, his owner, Amanda Whitlock, brought some of her little lambs inside to keep them warm. The lambs were only in the house for a couple days, but that was enough for Steve the cat to bond with them.

Once the cat had bonded with lambs, he just couldn’t get enough of them.

His owners noticed he was spending less and less time inside and more time outside with the lambs. They were surprised at their new relationship.

Amanda said:

“He’d just sort of get used to them and spend time with them inside and then the lambs move outside and we started noticing Steve wasn’t inside anymore and we’re like ‘where’s Steve?’ So, we’d have a look out the window and he was just out there interacting with them.”

The best part is, the lambs like Steve just as much.

They let him lead them around and they follow him as if he is one of them.

Amanda added:

“He’ll just be walking around the yard and they’ll be following him. Or he’ll be playing in the bushes and they’ll be inquisitive, looking to see what he’s doing and following him through the bushes.”

It turns out Steve and the lambs have a lot in common. They love to be lazy and chew on plants in the garden. They are pretty much inseparable most of the time, but at dinnertime, things change. The lambs run off to suckle, and Steve finally gets some alone time.

As soon as dinner is over, though, the lambs come back searching for Steve.

He usually isn’t too hard to find. Just look for a sunny spot in the yard, a shady spot under the tree, or some weird space where he shouldn’t even fit, and he’s there.

His owners were initially shocked at the relationship the animals share, but now they are just happy they have each other. Steve doesn’t have to feel lonely anymore, and the lambs have a leader that they can follow around and play with all day.

Living on a farm, the Whitlocks have seen a lot of strange animal relationships, but none like this.

Steve has finally found his calling in life. He’s meant to be a herder. No more long days wasted in front of the window or sleeping; he has to get outside so he can tend to his flock of lambs.

They say if do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life. Steve clearly loves these little lambs, and it appears the feeling is mutual. He has a job he loves, and it makes being a lazy cat not seem so appealing. Hopefully, they continue to get along so well and accept each other as they have been. All the animals seem to be happy, and that’s all that matters.
