We’ve all heard the term “couch potato” before! It has some pretty funny implications, and we all have an image that we think of when we hear it. For many, we think of a man in a white t-shirt on a Lay Z Boy with Cheeto dust stains across his chest. This video might widen your stereotype horizons!
What is a couch potato?
Simply put, Oxfords dictionary says:
a person who spends little or no time exercising and a great deal of time watching television.
Apparently, the lockdown hasn’t just affected humans!
This video might show us that dogs have taken to “potato tendencies” in a way never before seen! Remy is a husky that seems to have found a favorite chair that he likes to sit in. The only problem? It’s also mommy’s chair.
When Remy’s mom walks in, we immediately see a change in his demeanor.
There are probably three seconds of “happy Remy” before he realizes what’s going on. When he sees his mom walk in, he first gets happy, and we see a bit of a tail wag! That joy isn’t to last long, however. Right when she says:
“We’ve talked about this. You’re in mommy’s chair. You gonna get down? Remy?”
… Remy starts throwing a temper tantrum!
Growling and looking all kinds of mischievous, Remy knows EXACTLY what his mom is saying.
He won’t even look his mom in the eye! There is no way that you can say that dogs don’t understand what their owners are saying. Here’s my guess: Remy has developed a love for this chair and this isn’t the first time they have had this conversation. This is one stubborn pup turned couch potato!
When his mom persists, he just gets more stubborn.
If you have ever tried to press a three-year-old into doing something they don’t want to, you know how this goes. There is an incessant amount of crying, and you would think you are trying to pull their teeth out. Remy’s mom just wants her chair back, but Remy is giving her some serious lip!
Of all the breeds to “talk back” to their mom, huskies are definitely the ones to do it.
There is a reason they are known as the “vocal” or “mouthy” breed! They love to talk when they are feeling something. There are so many videos of huskies talking to their owners (and even one talking to Siri)! My Happy Husky explains:
Why Are Huskies so Vocal? Huskies are pack dogs with strong “pack instincts” howling and talking is their preferred method of communication to you and other dogs. Huskies also have a lot of energy, excitement and attention requirements which could also add to their vocal tendencies.
The argument escalates until Remy is literally “screaming” at his mom!
You think the issue will result in a stalemate until another husky comes over. This one is a lot calmer and seems to have a bit of sway with young Remy here. Soon, Remy hops off the chair, but not without one more growl, for good measure!
