Dogs really are ‘man’s best friend’. They’re always waiting to greet us when we get home with wagging tails and wet kisses, and they have an amazing ability to make us smile, brighten our days, and surprise us over and over again with their unpredictable behavior.

Some dogs love to nap, others love to play, and then there are some that love to sing!

One adorable Husky pup named Kovu has been filmed singing along as his owner plays the classic track, Lean On Me, and the resulting video is both hilarious and amazing all at the same time.

Say hello to Tate Hegstrom and Kovu. They live in Denver, Colorado, and Hegstrom works as an administrative resident with a program called HealthONE.

In recent months, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tate has been working with the North Suburban Medical Center in Denver, helping the hospital react to the new challenges caused by COVID-19.

In an interview with People, Hegstrom explained what his work involves:

It’s been setting up different ICU capacity rooms and identifying where we can safely place patients if we have a surge.

Another big part of Hegstrom’s work involves taking care of the hospital’s employees, protecting their jobs and preserving their morale.

And the HealthONE program recently decided to spread a little happiness to hospital employees by making a video involving various admin workers, like Hegstrom, singing along to Lean on Me.

They hoped that the little montage would lift the spirits of hardworking medical professionals and other hospital workers, but they didn’t expect that the real star of the show would turn out to be a 3-year-old Husky!

While filming his part of the video, Hegstrom decided to play and sing the song with his dog in the background and see how Kovu reacted.

Named after the main lion in The Lion King II, Kovu wasn’t willing to simply sit in silence and listen to his owner singing the song. He decided to join right in, adding his own vocal howling to the track.

Right from the start of the video to the end, Kovu howls along while Hegstrom sings beautifully and strums the guitar.

According to Hegstrom, this isn’t the first time that Kovu has been spotted singing along to melodies and other sounds.

Apparently, he starts howling at pretty much anything, from music on the radio to police car sirens in the street.

All it takes is a little motivation, and he hops right in. If he starts, sometimes it can take him a while to stop.

Hegstrom hoped that Kovu’s singing would put a smile on the faces of some of the hospital workers, but he never expected what happened next: his dog went viral!

The clip was quickly shared outside of the HealthONE program and spread like wildfire all over social media, being viewed by countless people around the world.

It was shared and featured on major media platforms like Good Morning America, and Kovu has even had his own Instagram account set-up to share more clips and photos with his newfound fans and followers.

Hegstrom says it has been “so special” to see so many people enjoying the antics of his furry friend and he encourages other people to do whatever they can to show their support for hospital workers who are bravely battling the coronavirus each and every day.
