We will never understand why some people treat animal with such cruelty, and although stories of abused and neglected animals always break out hearts, it certainly makes up for it if they have a happy ending.
For one dog in Virginia, his entire life consisted of him being chained up 24/7 with no shelter and no human interaction. Thankfully, the poor dog was rescued, and the moment that he was first brought out to run loose in a field was captured in a video that is sure to give you goosebumps.
A Siberian husky named Biscuit was one of nine dogs who were chained up in kennels in a property in Kentucky.
Despite dogs being highly sociable creatures who thrive off human love and attention, someone had decided that they simply didn’t have time to properly look after their dogs any more.
Huskies in particular have large amounts of energy, and need lots of space as well as vigorous daily exercise. So it’s safe to say that Biscuit would have been experiencing a lot of trauma from being chained up all day.
Thankfully, Amy Hines of the Dogs Deserve Better rescue in Smithfield, Virginia, happened to be in the right place at the right time. The rescue worker was driving past the property where the dogs were kept, when she noticed the terrible conditions that they were living in.
Immediately, Amy decided to stop and go to investigate. The more she saw of the place, the more horrified she felt, and she knew that she had to get the dogs out as soon as possible.
The rescue of all nine dogs began that day, and one of the dogs was so sick, that Amy took it with her upon leaving the property. It was time for Biscuit and his siblings to begin their new life.
“Amy spotted Biscuit and his siblings, friends, co-canines, on a property in KY while visiting.” Dogs Deserve Better explained. “Amy didn’t just drive by, she stopped and rescued one of the dogs that very day. She continued communicating with the owner until every single dog was rescued from that property, where they were chained 24/7 with no shelter.”
Thanks to Amy’s quick actions, the dogs were transported to Good Newz Rehab Center– a shelter which is run by Dogs Deserve Better. Soon after that, Biscuit took his first ‘freedom run’ in the huge field belonging to the shelter, and of course, staff had to film the whole moment.
After being chained up for so long, no one knew how Biscuit was going to take to his newfound freedom. Would he be nervous, now that he finally had the chance to go wherever he liked?
Absolutely not!
As soon as Biscuit is let free in the field, the world really is his oyster. The happy dog races around the field, stopping to sniff at new smells, and just generally having a whale of a time.
