While going on vacation is always wonderful, returning home can be just as great.
After the busyness of travel, there’s nothing better than getting into your home, lying down on your own couch or bed, and simply relaxing. But if you have pet, you know that relaxing isn’t the only good part of coming home after vacation.
Reuniting with your pet is also the most amazing feeling in the world.
That moment where you and your pet see each other for the first time after days or weeks apart is always magical. Your pet’s jumping in excitement, you’re smiling widely, and everything is right in the world.
When you think about reuniting with a pet, the animal you probably think of is a dog or maybe an enthusiastic cat.
But as one woman shows, a horse can also get very excited for this reunion with their owner.
After spending three weeks abroad, YouTube user luckyhoof finally returned home.
One of the things she looked forward to the most was seeing her horse again. The two had been apart for quite some time, and it’s clear they missed each other dearly.
Their reunion is just touching!
On a cloudy day outside, luckyhoof walks around, looking for her horse in the fields.
She finally finds the horse grazing in a pasture, clad in a stunning purple coat. He hears someone call his name, but he doesn’t realize who it actually is. He pauses, but then it hits him. It’s the voice of his owner!
Suddenly, the horse gallops towards luckyhoof as fast as he can.
It melts my heart to see such a deep connection between a woman and her horse. So precious!
After watching this video, you may be wondering if horses really do get emotionally attached to their owner.
According to an article by Horses and People, the bond isn’t quite the same as the one between a human and a dog.
“This might not be that surprising, when you think about the fact that most dogs live in our houses and are together with their owners from when they’re puppies,” said researcher Lina Roth. “But with horses, it is not as common that we keep the same individual throughout its life. In addition, the horse is a prey animal, and we might need to modify the research methodology in order to capture its complete behavioural response in this kind of studies.”
However, it is possible for them to still form bonds with the humans in their life.
The article states:
“That doesn’t mean horses never develop special bonds with their owners, however, cautioned study co-author Elke Hartmann, PhD, of the Department of Animal Environment and Health at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, in Uppsala. When and how they express attachment behaviour may depend entirely on previous interactions and the situation – where the horse lives, how much time the owner spends with the horse, what they do together, how long the owner has had the horse, etc.”
This video is proof that horses can bond with the people they love and miss them when they’re gone. How sweet!
Note: The first 40 seconds of this video are a bit shaky. If that’s too much, please skip ahead to see the reunion!
