We’ve all heard the conversations about animals and their capability to feel emotions or lack thereof.

Most of us believe that somehow, in some way, animals can feel love, attachment, gratitude, and longing, among other things.

It’s heartwarming to think that our pets and animal companions express these things in their ways but it’s even more touching when we see this in action.

In a viral video, two animals showed the bonds of brotherhood that surprised everyone.

The video that was shot in the Netherlands showed a woman leading a horse out of a cattle crate.

Judging by the shine on its fur and how its mane is beautifully, intricately, and neatly braided, one can assume that this horse was bought and turned into a sports equine.

Then, from outside the frame, a proud horse trotted towards the guest.

It has a lighter brown color, and its mane is flowing down, but its physique is similar to the guest’s.

Without missing a beat, the horse marched up to the other and did something unexpected.

Usually, animals size up an unfamiliar species when they meet for the first time.

This one was different.

The horse gently pressed its forehead against the other’s.

Instead of being spooked, the guest horse welcomed the physical touch.

It was an unexpected gesture, but also one that was full of meaning.

The two horses are brothers.

With the way that the guest horse is dressed, it must’ve been taken away from its family at a young age to train for the sport.

This meant that through rigorous training and exercise, the siblings must’ve been left with little to no time to be together.

But now, that separation has come to an end.

The two horses rubbed their faces on each other as if expressing their longing and love for each other.

They must’ve missed each other dearly, seeing the way they moved around one another.

It was truly a touching moment that even their owners couldn’t help but feel emotional over the brothers’ bond.

The verdict as to whether animals can recognize kin is still up in the air.

However, some studies show that these animals have excellent memory and capability for recognition, especially when they are treated right.

Horses maintain long-term bonds with several members of their family group and also socialize with other horses outside their herd.

Scientists said that equine social relationships are “long-lasting,” and in some cases, last for an entire lifetime.

It’s no wonder why these horses have a way of showing their feelings.

This serves as a reminder that animals should be treated fairly and kindly as we have yet to know their capabilities for love and gratitude.

We hope that through this encounter, the humans surrounding them both will give them more time to build a relationship and feel like they both belong to a family that will always be there for them as they grow into stallions.

Watch how these horse brothers act when they see each other again for the first time in a long while.
