The interactions between animals can be surprising and unexpected. Humans are often oblivious to the capacities for emotion and intelligence that other animals exhibit. When it does happen, we are completely astonished that an animal could act so “human-like”.
When we get a chance to witness animals interacting with each other in incredible ways, it is always a sight to see.
Although it’s less “wild”, this video shows some hilarious animals playing.
Lucy is a Portuguese water dog that grew up on a farm.
This farm just happened to have some horses on it! Ever since Lucy was a puppy, she would hang around the stables and play with the horses. Whiskey Brown is a four-year-old quarter horse stallion and seems to have made friends with Lucy!
Horses and dogs are work animals that interact occasionally.
While horses and dogs aren’t natural enemies, horses can be a bit skittish around dogs that are especially jumpy or loud. Lucy and Whiskey Brown, however, seem to be the best of friends! Caught on camera, the two of them are seen having a fun playtime in the pasture!
Lucy has a ball and Whiskey Brown keeps stealing it!
Whiskey has quite the advantage when it comes to size but Lucy has her speed and agility. Lucy knocks the ball over to Whiskey B Brown and he picks it up to hold it away from her. It looks like two kids playing outside!
Lucy dodges around the fence and steals the ball back.
Quick and agile, Lucy steals back her ball – Whiskey Brown doesn’t seem to care! Lucy goes for a quick dip in the water tub and then Whiskey decides to clean himself as well.
They run and play for a long time!
Watching the horse and the dog run around the field is an incredible thing to witness. When Whiskey breaks into a full gallop, poor Lucy doesn’t have the chance to catch up! they look so wild and free while they run around the farm.
Their owner raised them to be comfortable around each other.
Their owner said:
This is what happens when two animals are raised together with unconditional love and kindness. Whiskey Brown and Lucy are quite a pair.
He then goes on to recount a story of Whiskey getting ahold of Lucy’s tongue one time! The entire thing is really funny and worth the read (it’s in the description of the YouTube video).
When you raise animals right, they can be the best of friends.
This little video is an innocent reminder of the friendship that can happen between two animals of a different species. Their capacity for love, affection, and intelligence is something that humans have yet to understand totally.
